Nokia NAM 5800 XpressMusic pulled from NYC flagship store, replaced with Euro edition
While we did manage to eventually commandeer 3G on our Nokia flagship store-purchased NAM 5800 XpressMusic -- albeit not first without leaving the Chicago area -- The Nokia Blog went by the NYC store yesterday afternoon and found out the phone had been pulled from shelves. We put in a call to the store ourselves and confirmed that the NAM version is currently being eschewed in favor of the Euro-spec edition. No word on when it'll return, but we're still waiting anxiously for Nokia's official statement on the matter.

Maybe I will buy the Philippine version. I bought a Nokia E51 from there and it accesses AT&T's 3G here in the states.
Huh? How is the euro-spec one a replacement for the US 3G (AT&T 850/1900)? Unless they had it all along and a firmware update unlocks the other band?
Oh Nokia, and you wonder why the US market doesn't take you seriously? It's because you give us the shaft time after time after time. tw4ts
These guys must own a 1st edition printing of "How not to do business in America"
This is a fine example of how the folks in Espoo never learn. I'll put on my psychic hat and forsee the future. --- "Its November of 2009 and the N97 NAM is not released due to a carrier row over a Skype client and IP telephony" ... Call me crazy, but that's my prediction.
I would hope that Nokia folks would read this and take a hint at just how "over it" US Nokia handset users are, but they dont care. All i know is my E61i will be on edge again once i return to the states, leaving me a very sad panda :(
That's still better than a fruity company who releases goods with service that doesn't work and refuses to acknowledge it.
