WinMo 6.5 running on a Touch Diamond2, sans TouchFLO
We're not too sure what the backstory is here, but somehow, AreaMobile has been treated to a Touch Diamond2 demo well ahead of release. That in itself isn't much of a story -- we spent plenty of time with the Touch Diamond2 at MWC ourselves, after all -- but what makes this demo just a little more special is the fact that the damned thing's running Windows Mobile 6.5. Every Diamond2 we'd seen so far had been running 6.1 with the promise of an eventual upgrade to 6.5 down the line, but it seems that AreaMobile's either scored its own unit through sketchy sources (and possibly flashed it on their own accord) or HTC's getting a little looser about showing off the goods. Either way, noticeably missing is any trace of TouchFLO, so we wouldn't describe this as a close-to-final, HTC-blessed cut of the firmware by any stretch.

Mmh, that´s not the first video I saw of the Diamond II running Windows Mobile 6.5. And it´s by far not the best (and for those not understanding German even more although they´re not telling anything new and just added their audio comment to an existing video). I think this video (http://www.viddler.com/explore/engadget/videos/255/11.737) (funny that engadget doesn´t know about their own videos ;-) ) is way better and understandable
I thought WinMo is ancient. No?
No.

Phone Arena has had a video demonstration of the HTC Touch Diamond 2 running Winmo 6.5 since Feb. 15th.
And it's in English...
maybe WinMo 6.5 is just so good, HTC decided to forgo TouchFLO from now on? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA *gasp* HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
sorry.
That was just wack. Whats with this windows mobile 5, 6, 6.1, 6.5???
Why cant they make one that is efficient, user friendly, no glitches, no lag, and basically the FINAL product. Look at Apple or Palm, they dont tease you with complete upgrades every year. They make a product that just AMAZES you and WORKS...then minor upgrades as needed.
Without TouchFlo on there... it feels like WinMo 1.0
Microsoft's decision to take control of the UI with 6.5 onwards is going to lose them a few customers... there are many people who prefer the customizations companies do in 6.1. I just don't understand their thinking, except maybe people must have complained that they get lost on all these different Windows UI's... blaming MS for something the manufacturer did. Maybe.
