What's bigger than a store, a market, or a catalog? A whole frigging world, that's what. A sign-up page to be notified when the BlackBerry App World is available -- which we've linked -- will go live at 10PM tonight.
so does anyone think that there will be an official update with this release or is it just the app store? ive been up to date with the betas but an official elease would be nice with this
Also i have this phone with Verizon and it never says 3G in the corner like it does with the one up top... it always says 1XEV. Verizon said that is 3G...
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. That and laziness for not coming up with their own original ideas. They might as well have just named their store "Apple App Store, BlackBerry version". Apple should have put a copyright on the use of the term "app".
Downloadable applications for BBs have been around for a long time..... way before Apple even considered making a phone. The only thing they did was make it accessible from the phone and it took off. Kudos to Apple for doing so but its not like they reinvented the wheel! And before you call me some kind of Apple hater... I had the iPhone for about six months and thought it was a great phone.... I just think it is on a crappy network.
Iphone=Cool personal gadget, that does cool stuff, and has a iFart application. Blackberry= business class level device for people who actually work, and not hang out in %ucking starbucks all day doing video mash-ups. checking only their pop 3 accounts because their exchange client from their manufacturer sucks and failed.
Hmmm Blackberry relied upon for business critical communication worldwide...... iPhone=, uhhhhhhh uhmm I got Safari, oh wait, no flash...
Blackberry= COPY AND PASTE, WE GOT THAT !! iPhone= No copy and paste, Steven Jobs said you dont need that, what in the world would you need that for... use your starbuck napkin you pansies.....
@Woody: App stores have existed on cell phones for about as long as they've had WAP browsers. i've had Cingular/AT&T for a few years and all their phones had the Cingular Mall, where you could buy apps, games, ringers, wallpaper, etc. Apple's App Store is the same thing, just with that trademark Apple polish applied.
i'm just waiting for Apple to recreate this for the desktop/laptop and get massive praise for innovating, even though Linux has had "app stores" in the form of package managers for years now.
oh here we go Arrogant applefanbois. No apple cant own everything and blackberry was selling phone applications before apple had an apps store. How about you apple people stay in your deluded apple world were steve jobs climbs out of his lair to give you his next heavily marketed, nothing ,new nothing special device. i am sure he could sell you people a chunk of turd with buttons on it and you would love it !!!!
will people get off the iphone let other phones get there spotlight thr iphone is not that great when the iphone can finally send picture messages please tell me because my blackberry can do it with no problem but thats what happens when you have an apple product made to excide its limit but doesnt
AppWorld is awesome. You can find the weather channel app for 29.99 but it's free and has better features on the iphone app store. Hopefully rim will encourage developers to be more competitive on the pricing.
“At a glance -- particularly as a non-Storm user -- you might say "wait a second, that's just a Storm." And in reality, you wouldn't be far off with that assessment.”
Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
Oopsie...Link no worky.

Yeah...that's what I get for not controlling my A.D.D. =-)
Thanks Chris.
Haha, no problem.
They should forget a sign up page and just send the service books at 10PM.

Is it going to be an actual 'app' or something on the phone, or is is it just a webpage you browse on the phone?
Also i have this phone with Verizon and it never says 3G in the corner like it does with the one up top... it always says 1XEV. Verizon said that is 3G...
That is 3d. You're on the 1X network as well as the EVDO network. EVDO is usually 3G speeds for Verizon North America.
3G*
Shouldn't that be BlackBerry CrApp World?

Why would you want one company to have a claim or stake in something so helpful?
Oh joy, oh rapture. RIM is attempting to iSchool Apple with a razzle-dazzle title.

Mark it's called the iTurd.
Chris - Are the screens on the Blackberries "concepts" that Engadget photoshopped up, or did they come from RIM?
Curious to see what the real "App World" UI will look like.
