Okay, so we can safely establish that Sanyo's SCP-2700 QWERTY phone will come in at least two colors: blue, which
we've previously seen, and now a stylized floral pink. At the $39.99 on-contract pricing we're hearing ("Sanyo" and "cheap" usually go hand-in-hand in Sprint's lineup), this could be a big winner -- tweeners will probably be able to beat on it for a year or more with little to no ill effect. Come on, Sanyo fans, you know you're frothing at the mouth right now, no need to hide it. We're all friends here.

If it was faster and maybe had ptt it might interest me
This looks like the lotus and the pink centro ugly love child, taking the worst parts from each of the two.
I didn't think there were "Sanyo fans"...normally the people I see that have them only have them because they were free or something.
I've been a Sanyo fan for years... Can't say I'm in love with this design, but I am glad to see something new from them, and a Qwerty is certainly a new direction for them.
I just love the Sanyo Click on their old flip phones. If you are a Sanyo fan, you know what I mean.
oh man...the sanyo click.
**takes out old Sanyo M1 to hear the wonderful click**
I gave up on Sanyo after the M1 and had high hopes for them when the Pros finally came out and have been thoroughly disappointed that the 800 and 900 are nowhere to be seen
Yea, I too was a diehard sanyo man for many years.. up until the M1.. i had it for 2 weeks and went back to my 9000...but that was also aging and my last stop on the Sanyo train was the Katana DLX. Im unfortunately stuck with a WinMo phone now, but as bad as WinMo is, I can't see going back to a "feature" phone. So I can only wait patiently for an android phone.
am I the only one that find the blurry photo less than satisfying? this is engadget, and not John Doe's secret phone scoop! call me a snob, but I expected better photos......
I dont even care that its Pink...but that looks MUCH MUCH better than the blue one they showed.
Im sure Teenage Girls will be all over this especially @ $40. Itll have the same Pink
Im glad to see a non flip from sanyo...Except for that Candybar Sanyo on Sprint that my mom had way back in 96. This will sell very well. My first Sprint phone was a Sanyo and those were good quality phones.
Sanyo Board Room, late 2007
Sanyo Exec: "We need to make a QWERTY smartphone for Sprint, for the kids."
Sanyo Engineer: "You mean like this?" (takes out Nokia E61)
Sanyo Exec: "Yeah... Yeah! Exactly! Except make it colorful. You know, because of the kids. And cheap, like $50 at contract."
Sanyo Engineer: "Oh... That might take a year or so."
Sanyo Exec: "As long as we get it to market. In this economy, people would buy ANYTHING."
I am a Huge fan of Sanyo I have had many phones the two Sanyo phones have out done any of the others.. I have the M1 now and been thinking of going to a PDA. The M1 has been amazing. I love the Video and Picture quality I have to now have a flash, the M1 flash has double as a flash light many times. The M1 will be hard to let go of. I love a flip phone and I like the lotus except it is an LG and every LG we have had goes by the wayside by the end of the first year and we are replacing it. I read that is new Sanyo only has an 1.3 mp Camera. How can you go from 2.0 to 1.3 when all the other phones are going 3.0 and 3.5?
at this point from the things I have read I am not impressed with this phone.
