Artist "fingerpaints" art on his iPhone

Portuguese artist Jorge Colombo's been working on a series of "finger-paintings" of cityscapes done entirely on his iPhone. Using only his finger and an application called "Brushes," he's done some fairly impressive scenes of New York City. Hit the read link for a full set of iSketches this fanboy's whipped up.

Why isn't there a story on when I doodled on my Palm IIIx back in 1999?
duh - fingerpainting, gps, touchscreens, google maps, etc etc didnt exist until the iphone came out. Didnt you know?
Those are pretty cool.
cool. im an artist myself so i appreciate people trying new mediums for their work. kinda wish i had an iPhone now so i could play with this app on the go. im sure none of my touchscreen devices will be able to handle anything like this. oh well, maybe one day.
Not sure if you have a DS, but Colors is an excellent painting app for it (and the iPhone). You need a flashcart to use it (I personally like the CycloDS) but otherwise it should work without any problems. You can find it at http://colors.collectingsmiles.com/ along with a bunch of sample art created with it.
Pocket Artist by Conduits was pretty good on the PocketPC and because that device had a rather thin stylus pretty good control would be possible. I have Brushes and am still trying to warm up to it. Best for impressionists iPhone art is a difficult medium, considerably more so than the PocketPC. But you should give it a try soe stuff has been pretty impressive.
there are alot of artist out there using the brushes app for drawing and sketching. some better then others. check out the flickr pool.

"And he can work in anonymity -- to complete the cover he spent about an hour on 42nd Street, with no interruptions (try doing that with a canvas, an easel, and a full compliment of art supplies)."
