Pre browser looks mighty fast in Palm webcast

What about the Android browser? My G1 provides everything that my old iPhone provided, in terms of browsing, and more. In fact, I often use my G1 to browse for extended periods of time when my laptop isn't handy.
Right. The G1's browser is just as good as the iPhone's. In fact, the G1 browser uses the same Webkit engine and actually identifies itself as Safari in the user agent string.
Skyfire for windows mobile was tested by pcmag.com to be about 10x faster than Opera Mobile and 11x faster than Safari.
Of course it is cached. Webkit allows for caching with the G1 so more than likely with the Pre as well.
I went to this site with Skyfire on my Moto Q9h - loaded in 7 secs. In addition,, I had full flash and all of the embedded apps available. In the end, I think all FULL-experience browsers will be server-based (read: Skyfire-like). Websites are only getting more intense, and to not utillize cloud tech for mobile-use makes no sense. If you want full web experience on a mobile device, for now Skyfire is the only game in town.
71 seconds to load on full signal 3g on my iPhone.
Connected over 'N' WiFi?
btw: What's a glass plane? ;)
more than likely cached to save presentation time. wouldnt take it too literal as to the rendering speed in real life
Skyfire is the best mobile web browser out right now. It renders FULL webpages and has flash support!
I agree with laphoneuser, the android browser is just as good as safari on the iphone. Overall, I think Skyfire is the best mobile browser. It displays pages just as well as android or safari but it has flash support, as many others have mentioned. The pre browser does look very nice though.
That page had to be cached. That Big 12 page loaded in less than half the time it took me to open it up on my desktop via cable modem.
One has to wonder, given the fact that Palm has been -extremely- tight-lipped so far about the Pre's performance characteristics [outside of the pvt viewings from CES which they obviously authorized to be recorded], Palm had every reason to know that this video would provoke discussion and thought. Why wouldn't they feel compelled to disclose that this site had been cached as appears to be unquestionable when they are clearly taking their stab at the market which iPhone has captured? Show some dignity, Palm.
Interesting times are headed our way, would the rendering have anything to do with att's 3G?
I agree with the comments about Skyfire's experience its far superior to the iphone's safari even though if it is a server based browser. And to be perfectly honest i don't know of any page safari is capable of showing that i can't veiw on my native Blackberry Storm browser with javascript enabled and Firefox browser identification. And Ihave stereo BT and true MMS with video capture capabilities. I wish people would stop worshiping the iphone so much, is it a great device, maybe, I just cant believe that people don't realize that Apple could enable all of these things, they just choose not to so you'll want to upgrade every year with the newer model.
