HTC has at least two more Android phones up its sleeves this year
While we've seen just about all there is to see regarding HTC's Magic (including the innards that make the magic happen), the company's latest foray into the world of Google's OS will unsurprisingly be far from all it its last. HTC's CEO Peter Chou was recently asked whether rumors of five Googlephones from the company in 2009 were true. He played coy, but only slightly, saying to expect "at least" three on top of all the other Windows Mobile handsets we've seen bandied about for release this year. Subtract the pearly white handset above and that leaves two more surprises in store for us before 2010, meaning its going to be a busy year for HTC -- and for our favorite little green mascot.

And to one-up you:

Android
Now comes with choices!
Here's hoping one of them comes to AT&T (only carrier with decent coverage around here) in time for my plan renewal!
Here's hoping for an unlocked/unbranded Android phone that supports UMTS/HSPA on AT&T and Rogers. They want to offer it with a contract, fine, but I don't play that game, and Rogers isn't going to offer an Android phone any time soon anyway.
HTC FTW! Atleast someone trying make new mobile phones not rebranding old ones :D Each new model is different, at least with something new in it... And Android is future for mobile phone
I've been hearing that Android is the future for well over 3 years now, but all I have seen is 1 Android phone.
Android is to mobile phones as nuclear fusion is to power generation. It's the OS of the future, and at this rate it always will be.
HTC FTL
really? htc is a obscure handset maker who decided that not putting their name on the world's first android phone would be better.
by flooding the market with android sets makes the company look desperate for attention... almost like that insecure teenage girl who is trying out a million outfits a week to get attention
and android is not "the" future. it's been in the news for years, and when the G1 was announced, the price of google stock didnt skyrocket. for now, android is a niche market that tries to cash in on the "smartphone" market, which is also rather small.
apple's success of the appstore means, it will be that much harder for android to gain marketshare, just like chrome. (are there people still using it?) However, i do think it's going to succeed in the future - blackberry and palm will switch to winmo or android sooner or later - it's cheaper to license os than to create one.
i'm waiting till samsung omniaHD is android-fied that would be a phone i'd kill for
btw, i have a razr2 (although i have ipod touch., and dont call me a apple fanboy)
The white model pictured looks really nice!
no keyboard though :(
2009's gonna be such a great year for phones :-)
With me going to Uni in september this year, looks like i might get myself a nice new phone :)
Dear HTC,
Please don't make another ugly Android phone.
Thanks.

Nick.
PS: the G1 and G2 looked really aweful.
is that aweful, as in ful of awe?
@O
awful, constant typos + internet made me illililliliterate.
I don't care how the phone looks, only what it can do, and how easy it is to use. I ditched the iPhone for a G1, and the G1 is a definite improvement, although I'm still waiting for some features, like easy tethering and bluetooth for keyboard and stereo headset. If I could use a full-sized keyboard, I wouldn't need a laptop anymore. Eventually, I'll crack open my Android SDK download and try to grok it myself. Meanwhile, there are hundreds of free apps that I haven't yet had time to try.
I find it easier to use the physical keyboard than the iPhone's virtual keyboard (even though I would still prefer a full-size keyboard, since I'm a touch-typist). I would have liked a bigger screen, but the G1 is adequate. Multitouch was nice, but I don't miss it as much as I thought I would. I also like the MUCH better integration with email, especially gmail.
And it is really nice to have a phone on which I can install software without having to beg Steve Jobs' permission.

agreed. No more HTC Androids PLEEEASE.
It's same to assume they will all be ugly bars of soap with chins.
Personally I like the look of the G1...the G2's buttons make it look weird to me even though its almost the same.
But anyway I am pretty sure we can all agree that a Touch HD-esque android phone would be far better than a distinctly G3 one haha.
47 pics of HTC Magic !
http://www.cnetfrance.fr/news/mobilite/prise-en-main-et-visite-guidee-du-htc-magic-le-google-phone-de-sfr-39387755.htm
Hooray for pics, thanks for posting. Yay France?
yeah I'm not sure anyone wants to stare at 47 photos of this "beauty".
Let me guess... 3 phones with Android, 0 with a 3.5mm headphone socket?
Fuck you HTC. Seriously if it doesn't have a 3.5mm audio jack, don't even bother.
I don't understand this obsession, why must everything play music these days?
First and foremost it's a phone, can we worry about how they're failing to deliver a decent one of those first?
@ JamesR
welcome to seven years later.
It's not a phone, it's a SMARTphone.
@JamesR
Its called a dumbphone, thats what you want.
Smartphone buyers want EVERYTHING. phone functions secondary.
@People then just get a bloody e-tablet instead, no contract and more features + Open source platforms.
Come on now, it's just not an android phone unless there's a big unnecessary analog clock taking up 1/4 of the screen space.
I'd love to see what kind of Symbian phone HTC would make.
Nokia is the only reason Symbian is a success.
All i can say is that if Palm had come out with this instead of the Pre, they wouldn't be in business now.
Android suck
Coming from PS3 guy :))
@ TX CHL Instructor...a man after my own heart! Geeks out on Android and teaches firearms classes. I need to give you a call to set up a class. I let my license lapse. I am in the Dallas area.
As for more Android phones, yes please and not soon enough. I can't do the iPhone since every Tom, Dick and Harry has one along with Soccer Moms and every 20-something Deushy $30,000 Millionarie here in Dallas. No thank you!
yay... three more bars of soap with chins. Please do release those.
LOL! more promises no action,. Get with it already . Since android release iPhone has sold 6 million . Wake up u losin ground.
if i could afford a smart phone bottom line is i'd probably get a pre. no problem with android but sorry, the OS may do tons but it's kinda ugly and second the phones are butt ugly.
Too little too late... I've already grudgingly purchased an iPhone (albeit I jailbroke the damn thing.. F you Apple and Steve!)
HTC, you screwed up. You should have thrown more Android phones out there... and thrown them out there on phones like the upcoming Diamond2 and Touch Pro2 (Hell... you had the Touch HD already); phones with large screens and 3.5mm audio jacks. Instead of selling models with the option of Android, you stuck with Windows Mobile which takes tweaking (work) to make usable.
You release the Diamond and the Touch Pro... phones with crappy cellular reception and laggy GPS. Granted the Fuze was slow maybe from AT&T's meddling, but the laggy GPS and crappy reception... it's all on you HTC! I had to flash a XDA ROM to make my Fuze usable... even then each ROM had it's own little quirks and bugs.
HTC, you're not the only one to blame either. WTF is up with you Google?! Where's cupcake? Android feels like an incomplete OS.
The iPhone has been out how many years now? Why has it taken so long for a 1-2 punch from a manufacturer like HTC + Android combo? Your bumbling around has made the uphill battle worse. It looks like developers have shifted resources to the iPhone: There's already a greater number of apps available for the iPhone OS vs WinMo. Games... there are 3D games running nicely on the iPhone while HTC's phones are STILL LACKING PROPER VIDEO ACCELERATION.
Please someone release a phone that's an iPhone killer. I want my soul back from Steve.
Nice!!!
