iPhone OS 3.0 hands-on!

Update: Added a few snaps of the landscape keyboard in Messages and Mail, anything else?

Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
Who cares about this crap!
I assume those willing to comment... oh wait, that would be you.
is the landscape qwerty triggered by auto rotate or do you have to click to get it?
I just want to know if there are any improvements to their ActiveSync implementation. Task sync? Send meeting invites? Schedule resources? Categories (aka colors) for emails and especially calendar events would be great.
Can I copy/paste concall phone numbers from location field in calendar events or reminders? Someone at Apple must use this device away from their desk or laptop. BlackBerry users can do most of these (alas no colors) with impunity. Apple has to take the mobile professional market seriously if they want corporate penetration.

there's a blip about creating new invitations, does this mean that they've enhanced it to invite attendees when scheduling a meeting?
A picture of it running two programs at once.
Oh... wait. Nevermind.
Is it just me or is the normal engadget dead for everyone else too?
I know exactly what you mean. I still try to keep up with it, but this is my main haunt now.
OH LOOK PALM PRE SCREENCAPS!
Oh, its more iPhone stuff. I'll just go back to hitting F5 until something comes up about the Pre, now.
The beta has been leaked and can be downloaded via torrent.
I definitely agree! I mean, EVERY other phone on the market has MMS and Bluetooth capabilities! Why would we be applauding their late efforts? It doesn't make a lot of sense that I have a 3 year old Sony Ericsson that can do MMS and I can also Bluetooth to my Garmin or my computer! I can't do either of those with my iPhone...
It's actually rather interesting. I read an article not too long ago about this, someone made the comment that Apple wants people to use email more than MMS. I don't really think that it's Apple's choice! If I want to MMS, then dang it, I should be able to! I shouldn't have to only be able to send pictures to my friends via email if I don't want to!
Anyway, I do think that it's great we are congratulating a shortcoming that's now fixed or a flaw that has been repaired. I still think it's crap that they are going to charge iPhone 2G users $9.99 to update their bluetooth...
I don't believe the press how they are all so positive about some company that is actually fixing their mistakes months after the release of the product!
Could you imagine that i.e. Nokia would put their flagship phone on the market without it having MMS, copy/paste or multitasking? I don't think that the press would like that at all, but in the case of iPhone everyone is treating this failure as some success. What are the Apple marketing people doing to your heads?
Am I the only one, who finds this very late "fixes" rather embarrassing and incompetent?
i'm with ya all the way. i don't have an iPhone but a couple of my friends have had them and up until this conference yesterday, i really forgot how much basic stuff it couldn't do. people tout the iPhone as the holy grail of all smartphones and while it is a great phone in most senses, the features it lacks makes me reluctant to call it a 'smartphone' at all. im glad they finally added all this stuff but it seriously took them 2 years to do it? i mean it really took that long to get push email and mms? i don't know, i haven't used on yet so i'm not completely sure but the Palm Pre seems to be what the iPhone was trying to be.
Hi! On question plss , is it possible in the new firmware to manage the call list , to delete just 1 or 2 calles , not the entire list? thx much appreciated
Ok I will finally admit this heavy VZW kool-aid drinker now actually wants and iPhone. I sure as heck wont switch to AT&T for one, but I will start hoping like hell VZW lands one down the road.
It still amazes me how many people follow iPhone stories and lye in wait for an announcement, so they can criticise it.
If you really don't like iPhone and are not interested, do yourself a favor and simply ignore it, you will find life a lot less stressful. The more severe criticisms just sound like they are born from envy, whether you genuinely hate it or just hate it for what it brings to the table or what it has done for mobile phones in general.
Its a shame people take sides on mobile manufacturers like they do with their politics, I think its rather sad when a die hard Nokia, Blackberry, Palm fan (whatever your flavor) will just wait for an opportunity to slam another product.
If you want to criticise the iPhone for not having cut&paste for example, that's fine when its relevant, now that it does, that's history, what it the point or what is gained by moaning, "oh it should have had it years ago" ? The answer is nothing other than perhaps making you feel better for a few minutes because you got something off your chest :-)
I don't disagree about the lack of some features earlier on, but I am a bit more pragmatic about these things.
Too many manufacturers launch items with features that are so poor to operate, they don't actually get used in real life. If it takes a company like apple to launch a device with limited features to start with, but both those initial features and the subsequent added features are designed with plenty of thought gone into making them all usable in the real world, I'll take that device every time over one that has a clumsy full set of features from day one that you simply can't use!
100% agreed to the previous post. Couldn't have said it better myself.
IPhone iz attractive and very eye drawing. its like how the sidekick was when it was poppin. cuz sidekick was a shitty phone but everybody loved it cuz it was stylish and attractive but it couldnt do simple shit either. No MMS til mayb da 3rd one or da LX, da 1st sidekick u had 2buy ah cam attachment. i mean jus silly shit. and da iphone is a great fone. very fun but it misses key features like everybody points out but theres no stoppin its surge really. its too popular and they r smart. they could have ben had MMS or whateva on the phone that people complain about but they gotta make money first so addin all these new features that should have already ben will hype up da masses and people who didnt have a iphone yet to buy 1. MORE MONEY baby. dey prolly had this planned since da 1st iphone. jus to leave people wantin more
