LG VX11000 hits the FCC, presumably Verizon-bound
Seems like just yesterday we were speculating about the LG VX10000 as we spotted it trying to sneak through the FCC approval process -- a phone that would later go on to become the Voyager -- but in reality, that all went down a year and a half ago, and the Voyager's starting to get a little long in the tooth. What's next, LG? The answer may come in the form of the VX11000, a phone fully 1,000 more than the VX10000 before it (though we're sure that model number will be well-concealed with a trademarked name by the time it hits retail). We'd love to speculate more about the device, but other than the fact that it's a CDMA phone with Bluetooth and EV-DO, we really don't know what to expect. Any good theories out there?

I don't know about anyone else but my contracts up with Verizon and I am just waiting on a nice phone to come out for them. The Versa wasn't a very big excitment for me. Looking at all their other upcoming phones this better be good, or atleast going to Verizon.
Maybe something like a Prada 2 with a slide out keyboard, bigger screen than the 2.8 inch on the Voyager. Thinner, mobile tv, likely to see more than 3.2 MP or equal to that as in the Dare. Most likely something on a non-smart phone basis on which it can compete with the Samsung Omnia HD when Verizon acquires the stateside version of it. Oh and don't forget touchscreen, everything these days has to have one of those...or you ain't cool.
P.S. Just a guess that Verizon will get an Omnia HD. Not based on my actual knowledge.

My guess, based solely on the model number, would be that it is the successor to the Voyager, possibly named Voyager 2. It will probably be the same form factor with a landscape clamshell and qwerty plus d-pad. I wouldn't be surprised if it is no more an upgrade than the enV 2 from the enV. Probably a bit thinner and lighter, slightly higher resolution screens, maybe a slightly better camera, and the latest crappy Verizon software.
What I would like to see would be a bigger, high resolution, capacitive touch screen, louder speakers, 3.5mm headphone jack, divx and h.264 support, a real HTML browser with flash support, a faster CPU that doesn't lag on the most simple tasks, a better CDMA radio that can get more than 2 bars indoors, and software/firmware that's actually stable and doesn't have random reboots.
I'm a current Voyager owner and I can't wait until I am eligible for a subsidized upgrade. I am tired of dumbphones/featurephones and I'm ready for a smartphone. I am very interested in the Blackberry 9630. My 2 year contract isn't up until June 2010, though.
Hi Capn...
If you enroll online at Vwireless, they allow you upgrade at 12 months, and get 2 year pricing....Has to be done through their online, if I remember correctly.... No NE2 offer, of course, but hopefully the Niagara is worth it....
I have signed up for the My Verizon online thing, so I'll look into that in June. Thanks.
It's the Voyager II.
Trust me.
Its going to be called the enV Touch from everything I've heard.
I believe verizon should make a phone similar to the concept of lg versa but even better like the features of iphone like app we can actually add to the phone and it must have wifi (a must)
Has anyone used a Versa? I bet that the new voyager has threaded text, Visual Vmail, easy shortcuts and the favorites menu. Love my Versa!...Looking forward to seeing if they integrate some of the new stuf on the Versa into the new Voyager...Any thoughts?
It most likely has those features since the versa had them on it.
Honestly, Verizon is really getting on my nerves with all this waiting for the next iPhone killer crap and then it barely even brushes up against the iPhone let alone kills it. I have played with the Versa and I like most things about it but the few things I don't like are pretty crucial (2.5mm headphone jack, small screen, advertised as threaded messaging but doesn't appear to have it, only 2.0mp camera, no wifi) and so now they have me waiting to see what this VX11000 is all about before I purchase anything. I don't need a smartphone or anything I just need/expect certain things out of my feature phone to make me happy so if I had to go with something right now I'd go with Versa.
What bugs me about Verizon Wireless the most though is that they keep doing this whole get everybody talking thing like they did with the Voyager, Storm, Krave, the Dare, and now the Versa and pretty much they all dissapoint and fall short of greatness. Each one is cool in their own little way but none of them seem to do what's always been most important to most consumers which is JUSTIFY STAYING WITH THE NETWORK!!! Lets admit it we all want this! In the end this is all that matters. That's why AT&T has seen such success, afterall everyone knows their network is inferior to Big Red but the iPhone simply ROCKS!!! And now the iPhone 3.0 is coming out which just about sounds perfect. I have yet to comprehend though why Verizon has never understood this...or maybe they just don't care. Oh well. Enough ranting. I just hope this phone is worth waiting for unlike all of there other touchscreens of the past. I'm still waiting to here about the Motorolla Flash also although it is a Motoralla.
The Versa does have threaded texting. I have it and that's how mine is set up.
Personally, I thought the Dare was a great phone, the Samsung Omnia is awesome, the Versa has alot of really cool hidden features, in fact, I just switched to the Storm and am loving that but I still kinda miss the Versa in some ways. There are alot of great Verizon phones out there, not to mention that they are in the works with Apple on a potential iPhone lite.
So that's on the horizon, but seriously, what are you looking for in a phone? What about the iPhone is so freakin great? I'd rather stay on a network where I get great coverage than to jump on the iPhone bandwagon and get AT&T.
If the iPhone is the standard to which you hold all other phones, then you are missing out on some really cool phones, and features.
CTIA is coming up next week, and I will be attending. I don't know what kind of information is going to be released but I will be there to upload video and release information. You can follow my Tweets on Twitter. The Twitter name is LGMobileUS...
I know for a fact there is a New Voyager. It is going to be lighter in weight, higher in screen resolution, 3.2 megapixel camera and several cool touch screen features. The phone will have a similar design to the current voyager. However, on the qwerty, one of the space bars was moved to the middle of the bottom row.
Just got one a week early
