I think it's great that you decided on an iPhone. I've had my 3G since it came out and I love it. I couldn't use any other phone now. While 3.0 is bringing some great updates, I think we will see new hardware very close to the release of 3.0. So, my suggestion is: if you can hold out until 3.0 gets released and there is no news on a new iPhone, then I'd say buy it.
