Remember that Android handset from Samsung (pictured) apparently
leaked on Tuesday? Well, according to
DigiTimes' "market sources," we won't be seeing hide nor fuzzy hair from any Android handset touting Samsung DNA prior to July.
DigiTimes goes on to say that Samsung will be the first of the "top-five handset makers" to rollout Android -- a reference to Motorola, LG and
Sony Ericsson's efforts, presumably. Interesting since we had expected
LG's first Android device in June and
Moto's first effort as early as Q2. Guess it's your game for the taking
HTC.
i seriously think nobody cares.
though...im a winmo fanboy and that capacitive screen...but!
6.5 is supposed to have taken care of that :)
i can wait on that :)
Wow so open source gonna take 1 year to be released on 1 more handset besides g1 . Slow n weak.!
Yea, android really didn't catch the market like google hoped for.
Seems like PalmPre will smash android as the new kid in the block.
Looks like a Magic clone.... they cloned the phone inferior to the G1.
Is there ONE 2009 Android phone that can be taken seriously?
Winmo sucks
I see what you did there.
i really like the idea of Android, and i want to see other phones out there using it come out. but man, its a long time coming. my contract was up last summer and i was waiting to get an iPhone, but i read/learned about Android and decided to wait...and wait. T-Mobile doesnt have 3G here yet in Louisville (last time i checked). to me, it seems like more should be jumping on and releasing Android phones, oh well. so i'll be keeping my crap-tastic Razer a few months longer i guess.
I really hope this is for Verizon. My old phone is dieing and no other carrier works well in my town.
Who took the picture ?? Mr. Magoo ??
I doubt 2% of the people here know who Mr. Magoo is ;)
I think it'll be coming out on Sprint first.
Android is becoming irrelevant. If Google and all related parties want it to become a successful platform, then they need to churn out more phones immediately. Or at least offer a phone that is unlocked and compatible with all carriers. I think it was a mistake to offer the G1 locked in to T-Mobile, with a required calling/data plan, and a 2-year contract. That makes it almost as bad as the Apple/ATT arrangement.
I think come Q2, Android phones will be popping out left and right. What I'm waiting for is a stylish Android phone. My wife has the G1, and I like it, but it's not quite the looker I've come to expect.
I still have hope that Samsung will have a better looking Android phone that Sprint will adopt. If the news above is true, then I guess I won't see anything until July. I guess that just leaves more time for my contract to expire and get a better deal.
or rather Q3.
My wife and I both got the G1, and we both like it. I replaced my iPhone, she replaced a Nokia 'dumb' phone.
So it's not beautiful. Big Hairy Deal. I don't care how my cellphone looks as long as does what I want; it spends most of the time in my pocket anyway. And it works ok when I want to surf the web or handle email. Much better gmail integration than the iPhone.
I've got a first-generation iPhone for sale...
