Sony Ericsson confirms C905 coming to the US in second quarter
In a pretty frank interview with Reuters, Sony Ericsson's head of marketing for North America revealed that it intends to "be really focused" with the C905 in the US starting next quarter, saying that it'll likely launch for somewhere between $199 and $249 on contract and "be relevant to consumers in the second half." What he wouldn't say is which carrier intends to pick up the 8.1 megapixel slider -- but we'll go ahead and suggest that it's coming to AT&T seeing how we've seen it running the carrier's firmware and have gotten independent confirmation that it's on the roadmap. Of course, we know Rogers has an eye on this one as well, so everyone probably ought to consider stocking up on 16GB Memory Stick Micro cards, like, now.

Why microSD cards? The phone uses Sony's proprietary M2 card.
who said MicroSD?
phone is outstanding, i hope i can atleast get some hands-on time cuz i dont see myself trading it in for my iphone, but IMO Sony Ericsson rocks!
I did! Totally my bad, and thanks for the correction, Derek. You get into the habit of associating phones with microSD after a while...
This is too bad. I had an SE that used both. Thought it was a good move for Sony. Maybe they didn't think it such a good one for their proprietary bottom line.
Well, the K850 has that snazzy reversable slot where you can use either M2 or Micro SD...ten bucks to anyone that can hack that into a C905... :D
by a rumor, C903 and C905 (both have 3G 900/AWS/2100) will come to T-Mobile USA in Q2 and Q3
very interesting
Yeah, but that doesn't make any sense, as T-Mob's US 3G band is 1700MHz.
On another note, how come phones like this would only cost like $50 overseas in Europe. Why can't we get kickass phones for dirt cheap like T-Mob Germany has?
@mingkee - I'm pretty sure those are false rumors.
@Sameer - Atleast with Vodafone, they don't have ETF's - it's worse. If you have a 24 month contract and you wanna get out at month 12, for example, and you're plan is $50 USD a month, to get out of your contract, you pay $50 x 12 months of remaining contract. It gets quite expensive, so that's how they make their money back and why you really wouldn't wanna leave the company. That's why they can subsidize the cost of the phone so much.
Thats good i can hold on to my K810i a little longer. my upgrade is due on AT&T on May so i have time =D
Wake me up when the W995a becomes available. I'm willing to pay the for the unsubsidized price difference, which says ALOT. Why can't American versions of phones become available at the same time the Euro versions do? It's not fair :(
One reason why SE phones are so late is they often go to AT&T with butchered firmware, just like this one will. I bet they take the wifi off too.
Although you could get a clean K850i directly from Sony here, ONLY because AT&T rejected it!!
I often order clean unlocked phones from importers, I just check to make sure the bands are usable in the US. I hate carrier restrictions.
Hopefully they will fix the C905 earpiece problem by then.
Wow, so late, we got it here in Mexico as son as it was launched =S
This is a great phone. I have had it for a few months now, in the UK that is. They had some problems with the earpiece in the first batch but that should be fixed now.
Highly recommended!
