Acer A1 touchscreen Android phone to arrive in September?
It's unsourced, but we're hearing today that Acer's first Android phone will be called the A1 and arrive in September. That's at least the word according to the Phillipine BusinessMirror, and it lines up nicely with our peek inside Acer's secret roadmap diary at MWC. The touchscreen A1 will apparently launch alongside three other handsets, one of which we're guessing is the mysterious white C1 pictured above. We'll see how it goes -- hopefully Acer's second effort is a lot more interesting than its first round of ho-hum WinMo phones.

Why does Acer even try to come out with new products? According to posted reviews (and horror stories), their PC support is poor. Is their cell phone support going to be any better?
I do not understand why is Acer trying to gain a foothold in mobile devices. The economies of scale required in tis industry is huge and I am sure that Acer would find it tough to make profit on any of its devices. HTC has a better Android based phone (G1) which I have reviews on http://www.telecomcircle.com/2009/01/review-of-g1-phone-google-android-based-platform/
Because according to all experts, gurus, and assorted wiseasses, within cell phones will converge, netbooks, GPS, IM, e-mailing, cameras/videocams, PMPs,TVs, Radio& music players, notepads, turist guides, vibrators and erotic instruments, and a few other things I can't remember right now.
So everybody who has the ambition of continuing to exist a couple of years from now, must get into the smartphone biz.
Lenovo makes phones, Toshiba makes them, Acer too, MSI is at the drawing table...
Let's hope that at least one of those will turn out to be worth buying.
Looks awfuly like a HTC Shadow
Reminds me of the Touch Diamond (Sprint Version with rounded corners)
