T-Mobile webConnect available today, carrier's first 3G modem
"T-Mobile USA" and "3G modem" aren't two things you frequently heard uttered in the same sentence -- but now that the number four carrier's got a budding HSPA network that's all dressed up with no place to go, it's time to start rolling out some serious hardware (G1 aside) to take advantage. On that note, T-Mobile's finally getting serious about laptop data, launching its rumored webConnect USB stick today with an integrated microSDHC slot, HSDPA 1900 / 2100 / AWS for compatibility in the US and abroad, and triband EDGE for those times -- and there will be many at first -- when you're out of 3G coverage. The webConnect launches today for $49.99 on a two-year contract after rebate or $249.99 contract-free.

Beautiful! It was only a matter of time and I'm glad to see Tmo breaking into the laptop card game [with the ubiquitous data caps, I'm sure]. Now uhh, isn't that supposed to be HSDPA 1700/ 2100 instead of 1900/2100 as you posted? Or am I just an idiot who read that wrong or is missing something?
Yeah, the 1700 band is called AWS and its on there alright.
Whew, It's about time. I have 10 months left on contract with verizon, maybe by then they'll have a mac version.
It works on the mac fine. The software simply doesn't. The hardware does.
Good price. Hopefully once their 3G coverage increases other carriers will follow suit on pricing. Right now I doubt VZW/Sprint/AT&T are that worried though since all of their 3G coverage (even AT&T's) puts T-Mobile's to shame.
Oops, misread about the pricing. Thought that was the monthly hehe...
Yeah. So what is the monthly? My indentured servitude to Sprint is up in a few weeks.
$59.99 a month
It is a shame that it will only be useful in about 5% of the US (geographically). I bet they get a bunch of returns when people get those things home and realize what T-Mobile's 3G coverage map really looks like.
Hardware did not show on my ibook so i can't do the work around at all. But is awesome on my PC.
