Verizon MiFi 2200 EV-DO hotspot leaks out, will sell like Canadian bananas
It's not quite as sexy as the brushed aluminum version we saw back in December, but these leaked images showing a Verizon-branded Novatel MiFi 2200 personal hotspot are certainly enough to get the blood pumping. If you don't recall the concept, the MiFi is a battery-powered EV-DO router the size of a credit card that can provide network access over WiFi for up to four hours on a charge. There's still a lot of details up in the air here, like how many devices can connect at once and the max data rate, but if this thing comes in anywhere close to its estimated $200 price tag we'd say a lot of those answers might not matter. Couple more pics at the read link.

Put me down for one! What a great device!
Wait... I'm on Sprint. D'oh!
Up to 5 devices can connect at once. Max data rate is Rev A. shared between users.
It's a hot little device!!!
So wait...This does what exactly?
Do you connect it via USB to a computer that already has internet and then you can access the internet on EVDO devices where Verizon service is unavailable (pointless), or is this like a USB dongle on steriods allowing multiple PC's access to Verizon's network at once.
It doesn't plug into your computer. It has a battery or can can be powered by AC. Once it's powered up, you connect to it like any other wireless router.
It allows up to 5 clients to connect. It's like sharing your EVDO with your buddies via wifi.
Its basicly shares an evdo rev a connection over wifi so multiple computers can access the internet at the same time.
good luck with using mifi and not going over that 5gb limit. The purpose of this is not good unless you have unlimited service. The people that will buy this are those who have heavy data usage. Now, there's gonna be multiple people using service with a 5 gb limit. I smell litigation. VZW and AT&T already charge a unlawful amount for overage ($0.49 / MB). That amounts to $501.76 a gigabyte. Why don't they just charge the same amount for the first 5 GB?? I have always had customer come in with bills in excess of $1000..verizon just credits and the customer cancels. I wish all the data card users would band together and get a lawyer involved to light a fire under their butts to make a change. The best way is to go to verizonwirelesssurvey.com and give them a 0 (zero). That is the only way verizon changes policy.
Sorry, Engadget, but Canadian bananas are 1xRTT only.
(Disclaimer: I live near the Canadian boarder, get called a Canadian from people elsewhere, and we only get 1xRTT.)
Everyone knows that Canadian bananas are the best north of the Arctic Circle - they should be respected! And I can imagine there is going to be some weird software or something that Verizon will make people use so they can opress our bandwith!
