So we were at MobileFocus last night, and at the Samsung table we found MetroPCS' entry into touchscreen handsets, the Samsung Finesse. We think Samsung may have been just as surprised as us that this set was on the table, though, they did take the time to wander us through some of its features on video. The set is nice, response times in the OS seem decent, though some of the touted "Touch-me" was tough to get going. The finesse is available immediately from MetroPCS for $349 off-contract, of course. We've covered
the specs, so that just leaves you with the option of clicking through to get the full audio and video experience.
this for $349 or the evoke for $299...but finally metropcs has some good phones
To Cooper and all of the Engadget Mobile team:
You guys have the best coverage of CTIA.
I love the close-up photos and the to-the-point information and comments.
Keep up the good work. =]
(Engadget Mobile > CNET, Phone Arena, Phone Scoop)
Thanks again for feeding my thirst for mobile technology. =]
So what you're showing me...ummmmmmm.....from the video...ummmmmm is a MicroSD slot, a "2.ohhhh Megapixel" camera and ummmmmm....a touch screen with apparently only one touch button to return to the main menu that works.....a slide out touch menu that doesn't slide.....a browser that doesn't have a network connection and a side button that you have no idea what it does.....all for $349 from MetroPCS.....where do I sign up? Come on Samsung....not sure if you want to have that "available today".
Damn! Can't they get some better people to show these devices to the media? This lady is an idiot.
This is the old F430, a bland and boring 2 years old device.
Where's the news?
When I can exchange my Omnia (of which Im thoroughly bored) with the OmniaHD?
Samsung makes some very nice and tempting phones but is the most irritating phone maker I can think of.
Where can Omnia owners can download the new widgets?
Why in 7 months I never got a single bit of firmware upgrade?
Why is Samsung so indifferent to its clients?
Terrible video review!
I can't believe you even posted this....
She doesn't even know how to touch the menu to open the widget bar. (You touch, not swipe.) And she shouldn't try to demonstrate the web browser on a unit that has not even been activated yet.
I went in to a MetroPCS dealer last night and they opened a new box and activated one for me.... just so I could play with the web browser.
My one-line, 5 minute review: For web browsing and email, it's "almost as good as an iphone experience for 1/3 of the monthly cost."
I was paying AT&T $155 per month after tax. Now I pay $55 per month. I am saving $1200 a year. I can afford the hottest new technology when I save $1200 a year. For example, a new MSI Wind netbook with 6 cell batteries for 7 hour battery life.... for $329 right now....
Come on, this looks almost identical to my girlfriend's Samsung Behold. There are a few minor differences. Also, I was using her Behold last night and trying to swipe that side dock. I was getting so furious with it I insisted she get a new phone. I wanted to break the thing. The browser is a washed down T-Mob variant that sucks. A WAP browser, are you kidding me, with 3G?!? She has Bejeweled which is the only thing going for the phone. And this Finesse is probably just as sucky.
looks just like my behold, with the speaker from a samsung instinct. and for the love of engadget, i hope it doesn't have the same os/web browser/virtual keyboard as the behold
