Second "Meet Pre" video retains calming effects, shows off third party apps
If that first Meet Pre video wasn't soothing enough, Palm's released the second episode of its chill-inducing series, "This Weekend," showing off third party like Fandango and Pandora, as well as offering a sharper look at messaging and how SMS and internet clients like Google Talk / AIM are placed into one cohesive chat log with each contact. As with last time, integration is the key point to take from here, and of course being able to play Pandora in the background while browsing other apps has gotta be one of the most enjoyable features, especially for anyone who's been struggling with the iPhone's lack of multitasking. Sure, the video's great, but whether or not it'll function that well in practice is still up in the air. Hit up the read link to see it for yourself.

COME OUT ALREADY!!!!
Personally I don't see how any gadget lover could not be excited about the Pre. The Pre looks like an extremely well developed device that has some awesome feature. I really like their notification system and even as Blackberry user with phenomenal multi-tasking capabilities, I am excited to give the Pre a test run. I do however think that Palm needs to hurry up and launch the phone because as new devices come to the market there will be more and more devices looking to steal the Pre's shine.
I'm wet
Do Pre has a onscreen virtual keyboard?
no, it has a real keyboard that slides out.
phone is looking way more *for real* now.
I know that but what if I don't want to slide down the keyboard.
Then you're a lazy ass? It's not like you have to switch it to portrait mode to use the hardware keyboard either.
I may be swayed from my CrackBerry. Still early to tell but so far I rikey.
Wow, thats hot!!
Dear Palm.
I no longer can wait for you to get your act together. I’m breaking up with you. After years of bliss from 650 to 755p I can no longer wait for your “pre”. A few years ago my company hired a new employee her name was someone came into my life, her name was blackberry. She had a lot of sexy features. I turned her away because of my loyalty and our marriage of data. I couldn’t bear to deal with the csv exporting and importing of information you and I had gathered over nearly a decade. Now I realize I was a fool. The wait for your pre is torturing me. Do you like to see me in pain? I think you do. You sat there while Iphone mocked us and then blackberry. You never stood up for yourself. O.K the Treo Pro! 2 years too late. I cry as I write this letter simultaneous surfing blackberry’s site for my next love. I know you’ll be fine without me. I’m only one man! So farewell,
Your beloved, Customer 1234567890
@ Randy,
You are a effing NUTT...
How much is this gonna cost? $400? $500? I can't stand my Windows Mobile phone anymore, it's a piece of crap.
Randy, wait 2 more months, it'll be here by June and even allow you to keep the Palm OS apps.
the longer palm waits to release the pre, the more problem they are putting themselves in. with the possibility of a new iphone on the way, just what are you waiting for? did apple do this with iphone v1 or v2, can anyone remember? meaning we'll make an announcement and then wait 6 whole months to release the phone. once people see a technology they like, they want it now. it is today's mentality. you are just killing your potential customers, palm and sprint, get it together please.
Is it just me or does that woman have a sexy voice?
Hasn't the Android platform (G1) already demonstrated a wonderful notification bar that's being (obviously) copied?
And hasn't the Android platform (G1) demonstrated multi-app functionality (again, obviously being copied)?
Try streaming last.fm, StreamFurious or imeem while browsing and switching to texting AND emailing on the G1 - then having craigslist or eBay packet notify you of your bids to update...- now THAT'S TRUE multi-tasking in action AND it's out AND affordable (both up-front and monthly!) AND backed with over 2,000 apps in just 3 months(anyone bet on hitting 10k by year's end?)! (and all this on sub version 1.0 without crashing !!!) G2, G3...HERE WE COME !!!
And just how is the "fit" and "tilt" of the phone when pulling out the keyboard below to type on? Won't it be a hassle?
Typing horizontally distributes the weight fairly evenly...vertical pull-out keyboard could pose some MAJOR difficulties,,,,,all the weight is going to keep the hefty phone falling Backwards leading to what will ammount to single finger typing/texting - a Major problem that mandates attention. Sure it's "pretty", but pretty does not necessarily mean "good" or even functional.
