WiFi-equipped BlackBerry Storm 2 coming to Verizon in September?
Looks like you might be able to cross at least one bullet point off of your Storm 2 wishlist. According to unnamed source who SlashGear swears is the bee's knees, the successor to BlackBerry's touchscreen smartphone will add WiFi support for faster home / coffee shop web browsing. The informant hinted there's other surprises on the horizon but wouldn't give specifics, so for now you'll just have to keep dreaming about that SurePress touchscreen that doesn't slow down your texting. As for when we should expect the sequel, the report pointed to a release sometime in September on Verizon's network.

NO NO NO NO NO
I want Sprint to get this :( Please?
You can. It's called the Palm Pre.
don't sweat it...Verizon will somehow hose it up and it will remain a piece of suck.
well i would like the wi-Fi on my bbr but do we really need it this device is suppose to run on RvA ? wasn't
if not well that would be the answer , Please take the surepress away !!!! its horrible !
Perhaps the surprise is that it will be LTE capable?
That would be nice. If this comes out at the reported time, I know some current Storm users who are gonna be mighty pissed unless Verizon offers some sort of special upgrade deal.
I don't know what the surprise is but a lot of the VZW 'leaks' have been hinting at it lately. I think its not related to this release but something major down the road. Another 'leaker' called it the "really innovative stuff".
I'm getting kind of intrigued. I was going to drop them this weekend but I may wait out.
No more SurePress. There will be a new screen on it called TruePress.
OK, I was planning to get the original Storm for my new every 2, but I think I can wait a few months for this one.
get ready to be disappointed
Also if common sense tells you anything about how verizon releases phones. This will probably come out at the end of novemeber when they do the huge holiday sale surge.
Wait, you are going to attempt to apply common sense to how verizon releases phones? They are just now getting the touch diamond.. I think the touch pro 2 is released in parts of Europe. If you figure out some sort of Alchemy to apply common sense to verizon and their phones please share the formula.
The algorithym is best applied by working here for 4 years, and seeing the biggest releases of the year coming the last 2 weeks of november, every single year.
If this is Verizon's "biggest" release of the year, they will continue to disappoint customers with their phone offerings. (This attribute IS as reliable as their network.) My contract is up in September and I'm ready to bail. I may eat the shrinking ETF, and head for a network with more useful phones if something compelling (Garmin, iPhone update, etc) comes out in the interim.
Tell me again why we need wifi when we have data nearly everywhere with bigger bandwidth now?
I'm not being facetious. I am no expert at this stuff and seems like a step backwards just to match the feature list of the iPhone.
