Bell rolls out 4.7.0.122 for BlackBerry Storm 9530
Verizon users are still waiting patiently for something blessed official by the powers that be, but meanwhile, Storm-ites on Bell up north are finally in the game. Build 122 of the Storm 9530's firmware hit Bell's servers in the past few days, presumably offering all the goodies 113 has to offer and more (it's 9 higher, after all, and we all know that higher numbers are always good). The Storm could end up being a feel-good story of how a device can go from "pretty bad" to "pretty good" with firmware updates alone, so keep 'em coming, RIM. You too, carriers.

Everyone is coming out with updates for the Blackberry Storm except for Verizon Wireless. I love the coverage they offer, just sucks on updating problems with their phones. Verizon has yet to update the Storm since December, going on almost 4 months now.
I got 4.7.0.122 on my Verizon Storm and I see 5.0.0.90 is available too...

I really hate how it's up to the carriers to decide if we should update our cell-phone firmwares. I know that they're afraid that a new firmware could screw up their own pre-installed apps, but it really agitates me with being stuck with an old firmware. I don't want to debrand my phone either with the fear of it breaking and having no warranty to fall back on.
F-ing Verizon! I tried to update to .122 but it wouldn't let me b/c I have Enterprise. Argh....
I've had this firmware running for about a week now on VZW and it's MUCH MUCH improved.
How do you update the OS for verizon???
Check crackberry.com for the info you'll need, but in a nut shell...
1. Downloaded Blackberry Desktop Manager, .113 package, and some of the files of .122.
2. Installed the first 2 programs, then placed the .122 files in the common files\.113 folder, overwriting where necessary.
3. Loaded up BDM and it offered to update to this newer version.
4. Waited 10-15 minutes.
What should we learn from this experience?...never, ever, buy a Blackberry from Verizon that has known bugs and assume they will fix them. After 30 years with Big Red, I am going to have a hard time with my next phone contract.
