David Beckham bends it like a Terminator for Motorola's Aura
Never before in the history of humankind has a company that's been doing so badly had such an enormous amount of money to waste. Enter Motorola, and, consequently, their new Aura advertisement featuring megahunk David Beckham doing what he does best: absolutely nothing. There's not much that we can say that the Terminator-inspired ad won't say for us, so putter on after the break and catch the ad itself, plus Beckster beefcaking it up like a pro and sharing his innermost insights on Moto's $2,000 phone.

actually, what he does best is play soccerr... and he clearly isn't doing that for this ad
That's rediculous if the phone is $2,000.
After watching both videos, i believe this is a stealth ad for David Beckham. Where can i buy one of those?
Wow. You know engadget, I never want to read a pity post for Motorola ever again. The whole company is in the shitter and they're wasting money on this??? For a phone only a handful of people will ever even consider buying? In this economy? Why don't you just make a commercial of Miley Cyrus eating cheeseburgers in Darfur and chatting with her tween friends on an Aura, it's gonna have about the same impact on sales of your silly overpriced fashion phone. Meanwhile, the stock keeps tanking.... :(
what you mean david beckham doesn't do anything? he's a soccer player.. you try it..
I DID try it. i found that kicking a child's ball was very easy action to do. And I found that I did it very well. I struck the ball, the ball moved. I had no idea that such an action impressed the rubes.
There's a difference between kicking the ball like a retard, not knowing how to control it, and kicking the ball like you know what you're doing, having control, etc. Even the best football (it's called football, and it's the most popular sport in the world FYI) players run into troubles at times with controlling the ball. The game may look simple, but it really isn't.
I had no idea many people placed so much importance on a CHILD'S GAME. And make no mistake, that's what it is, a game CHILDREN play. Meanwhile, still no cure for cancer.
Your hilarious! You not only claimed you can play soccer but now it's a child's game? The most popular sport in the world? You fit the basic conclusion that anyone with a life comes too when they come read one of your "witty" comments: arrogant nerd= jealous LOSER.
And I'm waiting to see your name in lights winning the nobel price for discovering the cure for cancer.
u can get it for 1200$ !
I guess maybe Beckham should abandon his world-class soccer career and move up to something a little more respectable then, like maybe an internet tech blogger? Then he'd really hit the big times. I had no idea that even nerds were so jealous of good looking athletes.
By the way, how many Joshua Topolsky jerseys did you guys sell last year?
Actually most people assume Motorola is wasting unnecessary money publicizing the AURA. The truth is, in terms of sales it may not sell as many as those regular 'Mass market' solutions out there, but the profit margin is high and its got pretty much what people in a certain niche market are craving for.
Over here in my area, they launched the AURA without much publicty but rather a private invitation-only event and in 1 week, 22 buyers have snapped up the AURA. Price tag over here is SG$2988. So 22 AURAs sold = $65,736.
So what some people here do not like, doesn't mean you can assume the AURA is not selling well.
