Future Samsung phones to blast you with freshness?
It may not be the oddest application of pleasant emanations from a handset, but Samsung's recent patent app is still up there in the "technologies the mobile world doesn't really need" category. The idea is pretty simple: a fragrant strip is embedded either in the slide mechanism for sliders or in the hinge on clamshells; every time the phone is opened, friction against the strip releases the fresh scent of springtime daisies (or pine, or Beef Wellington, or whatever you're into). It's not clear from the application whether the strips would be user-replaceable, but they're emphatic that it'll last a long time -- so this isn't like gum that tastes good for all of five seconds, apparently. We think we still prefer our phones smelling like... well, nothing, but that's just us.

NO!
please don't adulterate the scent of my electronics~ i love the smell of fresh plastics and perhaps carcinogenic voc's emanating from my new cell phone. it's sorta like messing with the car scent in a new car by hanging one of those awful scent trees --with the exception of "squash" flavored/scented fragrances i suppose.
If people wanted scented phones, I'm pretty sure a third party would've already started offering it, much like phone cases.
Wasn't the LG Chocolate originally chocolate scented when it was first released in S. Korea?
I would'nt want it on my phone , but I would surely buy a few of these scented strips to use for practical jokes: " Hey man! what's the matter with your phone? It smells like... Yeah man, it smells just like shit!"
If they would produce the appropriate list of revolting smells I'm sure it would be a hit.
I want to maintain my new phone smell with New Phone Scented Strips.
"no officer, you don't smell weed in my car, that's just my phone!"
For the super Armani phone phone, now with armani scent...
Or would you like the new David Beckam for Men scent to make sure you smell really cool?
