Of, course, by the "Samsung Smooth U350 arrives wrinkle free", we mean: smoothly boring. For $29 after a 2-year deal and rebate you'll get yourself a pretty low end flip with a VGA camera, Bluetooth, a 160 x 128 display, 336 hours standby, 300 minutes talktime, oh, and some lovely Verizon branding. Notably absent is any type of 3G connectivity, this one is a 1X affair, so if your dreams were of a super low cost EV-DO device, you'll need to peek elsewhere. With that snobbery done, you'll also get what should be a pretty tough set that just may wow Grandma's socks right off is she's looking for something smallish to tote to bridge club Wednesdays. i dunno, considering my contract just came up with them and my wife HATES her cheapo LG, this might be just the ticket for her.
It's funny how engadget never posts news about the stupid phones release by any other network but Verizon. Its a constant reminder of how biased this site is.

Seriously, why do they think people care for crap like this. Ugghh. I'm so sick of their lackluster phones. I wish I could leave, sadly. I don't want to choke down early termination fees.
Yeah seriously dude, what the hell is up with VZW?
How dare they think there are people out there who want simple basic phones! How dare they offer a phone for under $50, who the hell do they think they are?!!?! Doesn't VZW know that EVERYONE on the planet earth wants 10 mp camera phones with 5 inch touch screens and 128gb of internal memory?
I'm with you, VZW offering an affordable basic alternative that I totally don't have to buy at all pisses me off so much I want to leave them, those jerks!!!!!

I see the sarcasm in your reply. I'm not bashing on low cost phones under $50 dollars. I am just tired of them having lackluster devices like this. OF course they do need to appeal a wide audience of people. I never said anything about touch screens, 10mp cameras or any other technology. I just wish they would put decent phones out that aren't crippled or that look the same. To me, this phone is not aesthetically pleasing as other phones or as it could be, it looks like 13 other phones that are on verizons store shelves.
I have a basic phone, - (vx8700 - shine) it looks nice, works well. I don't have many complaints about it. I would like to have the choice to get a decent phone if I wanted, nothing is desirable on verizon right now. They don't listen to their customers needs and wants. They act like they want to be "hip", then they turn out phones they have had 3 years ago. Nothing has really changed with their phones. Other carriers change their phones quite often.
I'm not happy with the selection we get at verizon, nothing is really desirable. Not yet anyways.
