Sprint/Palm have a hard enough time convincing customers to ignore the iPhone hype for the Pre, but to suggest you have to pay $99 minimum is obsurd. Hopefully this is a lost in translation moment and it just means you must have an Everything data plan which in turn was translated to Simply Everything.

Jim

Comments on "Insider" Sprint doc details the Palm Pre for new users, other boring minutiae

Good grief read the article before you post.

"The Pre will require a Simply Everything / Simply Everything data plan, or a Business Essentials Plan."

Everything data plan + voice = $69/mo

cocoviper

Comments on "Insider" Sprint doc details the Palm Pre for new users, other boring minutiae

keep in mind this is a very early document, assuming it is legit the plan requirements could be for new subscribers thereby letting old SERO users get by. I started my smartphone experience way back with my old Kyocera 6035 Palm phone and it's successor, the 7135 Color Palm clamshell phone still ranks as one of my favorite phones of all time (there's a market for those, people! The only problem with the Windows based Motorola Nextel offered was the lack of a touch screen). I really miss using the Palm OS but I was a lot happier with my Mogul than I was any Palm based phone the past few years and the Pre doesn't look like it's going to be bringing me back into the fold any time soon. Not a huge fan of the WIN OS but once I'm done customizing it, it's okay. Still better than the iPhone (sorry Apple heads).

akaKJB

Comments on "Insider" Sprint doc details the Palm Pre for new users, other boring minutiae

I was really interested in the Palm Pre, but now I'm almost kind of not sure that I even want the phone anymore! One of my biggest complaints with the HTC Touch (I had it for a week and gave it back to them) was the fact that Sprint services weren't available on it! So, you can't download ringers, games, screen savers, or assign call tones!! How dumb is that?! Why would Sprint (or any phone company) launch a phone that's not compatible with their services?!

Andre

Comments on "Insider" Sprint doc details the Palm Pre for new users, other boring minutiae

I've had touch screen PDA phones for a long time. I have never felt the need to use Sprint's services to download ringtones, games or background pictures. I can go on the Internet to get them or just make them myself. I don't need some dumbed down program to do it for me.

That is the advantage of having full Internet browsing capabilities on these things. I never even sync it with my computer, there are tons of free programs that sync with the Internet for me. Why would anyone want to be restricted to only what the service provider has, when the whole point of the phone is having the freedom of a computer without the weight or size of one?

I watch Hulu on my ancient, 2 year old phone, make ringtones for it and can crop any picture to become a screensaver.
