Nokia Spain taking N97 pre-orders next week, deliveries in June
Our dear colleagues over at Engadget Spanish have learned that the cream of the Nseries crop -- the N97 -- will be available for pre-order on Nokia Spain's site starting next Monday, May 4. Of course, there's a world of difference between a pre-order and actually having a device sitting in your paws, and it sounds like retail units will be delivered at some point in June. We'll take two, Nokia Spain -- giftwrapped and overnighted to the States, please. Thanks!

Damn, this has to be the most underpowered cream of any crop that I've heard of. Oh, and Chris, I don't know where you got 600MHz from because the Omnia HD will come in at 800MHz, baby.
800mhz and shit battery life ... good job right
Shit battery life? It's using newer, power-saving technology, unlike the old-hat N97. I wouldn't be surprised if the Omnia HD's battery life ends up being far better than the N97's, despite the 800MHz CPU.
Love Nokia N97 so much... it kills me every days of waiting!
i hear it has a rather low cpu duno clearly remember 400?
will AT&t get it or maybe Verizon?
Probably neither (well defiantly not Verizon. Its a GSM phone).
Nokia doesn't seem to play well with the US carriers. Your only option is probably going to be unlocked direct from Nokia. And thats going to be pricey.
Let me guess. Nokia still didn't fix the call logs issue found on all their N-series phones and still no smart dialing.
Unless the user interface is completely different than what it is in Nokia 5800, this phone is soon to be forgotten.
Nokia needs to make their N-series phones smarter by making them easier to make calls and manage call logs.
What is the issue with the call logs in the N-series? I have had four nokia symbian phones and I find it serves its purpose perfectly. In fact, i can´t see how it could be improved, unless you need to keep logs for more than a month.
And what do you mean with "no smart dialing" and "needs to make easier to make phone calls"?
You can assign numeric keys to contacts, use voice dialing which works great with BT handsfrees, call from the call log or to the sender of a message. You can also call a number which is in the text of a SMS or mail and even look for numbers in the web browser. Searchs in the phone directory work with names, surnames and middle names.
Seriously, symbian phones have many issues, and the 5800 touchscreen interface a lot more, but call logs and dialing are not any of them.
I missed this: you can also dial a number in the numeric keyboard and press call.
what planet do you live on where a nokia phones make it harder to make a phone call then anything else. Please tell me the phone that you have, you must just think about making a call and your phone does it huuuuuh.
I had Nokia N95, N85, and Nokia 5800. All have same problem.

should help you.
It is universally known issue with Nseries phones and even the hardcore N-series fans wish for Nokia fix it but they are used to it as they mostly call only to their contacts Mobile phones.
about smart dialing. Blackberries, windows Mobiles, and almost all Sony Ericsson's dumb phones have the feature along with Nokia's E-series phones. For N-series you have to spend $16 to buy a app from 3rd party while on iPhone you can buy the app for 99 cents.
Can't wait till it comes out. Got mine pre-ordered(white!), thought anybody knows when it will be out from UK carriers?
I still got slight possibility that i skip this device and just wait for the first Symbian Foundation(Symbian^2) device because i there's no denying that Symbian 9.4 or 5th edition is just something Nokia throwed fast out till SF comes so i might wait till the real deal comes out(with E series brand, please), but i'll see how N97 price goes in the first weeks.
AMOLED + Faster Cortex A8 with power saving capabilities = better battery life on OmniaHD with faster operation.
It'll probably go to Cincinnati Bell first.
Was so looking forward to this phone, but alas, it has taken too long to get here, so I opted for the Bold, which means I won't be coming back to Nokia anytime soon. Sorry Nokia, the Bold is a mighty slick phone, and couldn't justify shelling out $700.
Nokia.com has a great deal going on at their website. If you preorder and add the N97 to their cart it's $524.25!!! with a free bluetooth headset. I'm not sure how long this promo will last.
