Novatel's sleek little
MiFi is undeniably one of the coolest mobile routers ever to hit the market, and something tells us it's going to sell pretty well -- but naturally, it's got to... you know,
go on sale first before that can happen. We don't have an exact date, but our tipster believes it could happen shortly after the 10th of this month -- possibly around the same time of the Samsung Alias 2 launch which is
slated for the 11th. What we know with more certainty, though, is the price: $99.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate. That's less than we would've guessed, and we're thinking it could be a real sweet spot for this type of device; now, let's just get those nasty 5GB caps abolished and we'll be ready to rock and roll.

They beat Sprint to the punch
So MiFi basically converts 3G to Wifi right - so I can use my Ipod Touch + MiFi = 3g ubiquity which renders the Iphone as defunct?

Yep, but my guess the service pricing will mirror their USB Sticks & PCMCIA/Express cards of around $59/month..... I'd love to get one of these and am hoping they will provide some packaging promotion say if you have a Blackberry, your incremental rate might only be the 'tethering' amount or something nominally more than that amount of $15. But reality is it will be around the $59/month....
Possible bummer. I just ordered a Linksys router for my Sprint Pantech PCMCIA card hours ago.
Will Sprint release the Mi-fi as well? Would be nice.
Doesnt Sprint already have a portable battery powered wi-fi router already?
Haven't heard of one. Do tell.
i dont know what it is called but it is basically the same thing, a portable battery powered wi-fi router. I believe you have to use a usb data card for it though. It is on their accessory page.
