If Mike uses an SMS gateway on its iDEN network, then messaging should be just as reliable as on any other network. The problem with iDEN messaging in the U.S., Chris, is that Boost/Nextel use MMS only, provided by a third party company that has never managed to get its act together.
SouthernLINC is a U.S. iDEN provider that uses SMS for texting, and it works just fine. It's not the air interface that's the problem.
