We can understand that Nokia would want to charge a little bit of an "early adopter fee" to anyone nabbing an
E75 on day one -- but we also figured it wouldn't last long at the original $529.99 seeing how the similarly-equipped
E71 is way, way less. Fortunately, the discount came even quicker than we'd expected. The company's US flagship stores will be charging $429.99 this weekend only for the dual-keypad business slider, a price that makes it a whole lot more palatable when put in context of the entire product lineup. Thing is, the E71's officially $289.99 for those same two magical days -- so it's still got some catching up to do before the new-phone-smell premium evaporates altogether.
I'm really liking the Nokia E71 for $290 although the E75 looks nice too but I'm just not a fan of having both a qwerty and a numpad. Guess I prefer touch + qwerty.
But since the sale is only for Nokia Flagship stores does that mean that we can't get in on the deal unless we live in one of those locations? I just checked online and the sale doesn't seem to apply there.
I have pre-ordered the E75 from Nokiausa.com and had to pay full price. I called Nokia today to see as to whether they would extend the sale price to customers who have pre-ordered the E75. They said "no". Nokia does not even let me cancel my pre-order even though my E75 has not shipped yet. They advise me to refuse receipt of the shipment once they have shipped it so that the phone will then be returned to Nokia for a refund. Why should I have to pay for the shipping charges just to get credit for a phone which I no longer want? This is a very customer unfriendly behavior. No wonder Nokia's market share in the US is so low given their customer service.
Go to howardforums thread on N75. They talked about canceling preorders a day or two ago.
Oops. Sorry, meant E75 forum.
I wasn't in the market for a new phone but an unlocked E71 for $290, I cannot say no. Is there any way to get this deal online?
I just wanted to sort of ask the group for some advice. I was thinking about picking up the E71 or E75 to use a "glorified" PDA, since I currently have verizon(and i use a dumbphone, or really it is a SUPER-DUMBPHONE). I was wondering if you could use this phone "as is" without putting in a SIM card. I will be a resident at a hospital, where we will have wi-fi everywhere. I guess I could get an ipod touch, which has a lot of the same useful features as the nokia, but at least if i travel overseas, the nokia could be useful. Anyway, sort of a silly idea, but could it work?
