BlackBerry Storm 2 gets pictured early
We knew it was coming, and just like its relatives the Onyx and the Gemini, yet another unreleased model has managed to escape the confines of RIM's Waterloo headquarters. This time, however, it's the Storm 2, which we've heard has been internally codenamed "Oden." We've also caught wind that this model pictured is of the GSM flavor, and yes, it's indeed packing WiFi in addition to GPS according to one of our sources. As far as that rumored "new approach to text entry," it sounds like the keyboard has been tweaked but isn't a radical departure from the first generation. From the photos, it seems that RIM has advanced in the war on buttons and axed the bottom four in favor of some touch-sensitive controls. The real improvements, however, appear to be under the hood, as the whole device reportedly runs much faster and smoother than the current model. We can't confirm these specs, but with the Tour coming this summer, and the Storm 2 hopefully making an appearance before the holiday shopping season, looks like you Verizon BlackBerry fans might not have to be that jealous of your GSM brethren after all. One more pic after the break.

Very Nice!
Looks like POS, just like the Storm v1. Stick to QWERTY a-holes.
looks thinner than the original..
Thanks, Sherlock Holmes. We didn't notice.
How I wish I can have the gsm version for at&t!
Where is this GSM Storm supposed to be Heading?
Can't wait for this. It should be out around the same time the 1st Storm came out.
with the gaps on the front, it looks like you still have to press the screen down, in which case, i hope they update the software accordingly this time (on release!)
so if this is gsm....it could be for at&t????
i need to know before i buy the 8900 when it comes out.....
This should hit before the holiday season in 2009. Obviously this will hit VZW in the states being that they have a LIFETIME exclusivity to the storm
According to BGR its for Verizon and it has Wi-Fi. Also the pics show "Activation Required" which would suggest CDMA rather than GSM, which would say, "Insert SIM".
Noooo, not touch sensitive buttons! If they are anything like the LG Chocolate 2's touch sensitive buttons...you can count me out, I hate those stupid things vibrating my face during a phone call.
...ok...otherwise, pretty sweet sounding. But whats the point of wifi? VZ forces you to get the data plan on these phones anyways, why bother? Otherwise, I'd have the omnia now what with its wifi.
IMHO, if you have the money for it, go to RIM and have them make a personal handset for you.
