AT&T considering cheaper iPhone plans?
We're getting close to WWDC, which means the Apple rumor mill is nearing redline -- today it's BusinessWeek saying AT&T's working on cheaper iPhone data plans. It's not clear exactly how that would play out, but the most popularly-discussed option is a $20 "limited-access" plan potentially offered alongside a cheaper iPhone to be introduced at WWDC -- an option that's almost certainly being discussed as the two companies sort out that exclusivity extension. Of course, we're extremely curious to see what "limited access" means, given AT&T's recent SlingPlayer debacle -- cheap certainly isn't worth it if you're not allowed to do anything worthwhile. Phil, you have anything to say?

I wonder if a limited access plan would include access to email and the App Store (and internet through downloaded apps) only, or maybe just the App Store? If that happens, I wonder if alternative browser applications might disappear from the App Store. Anyway, just a guess!
you get what you pay for.... o wait you have an Iphone. So you pay for what you don't get.... Service that is.
I'll be enjoying $10 internet with no limits on my N97 NAM
If they put restrictions on it, nobody is going to buy it. I know I wouldn't. It would be like supporting that silly tiered internet Time Warner was trying to put out.
i agree. data rates are retarded as is, so if they add a cheaper, limited version, they are only going to sell to the uninformed cheap customer who is just looking for a deal. and he will inevitably end up paying a shit load of overages for it.
They should just lower it since I get no 3g reception on my phone.
Um... how about refunding all of us in SF who never have access to data at all? That would be a great plan. Or the "sometimes works" 3g plan for $10. Who cares about data caps when you cant even connect?
maybe you should complain to a customer service rep instead of a blog
@kunikos
yes because i'm sure his complaint doesn't represent half of at&t's customers.. hmmm?
AT&T should just increase the phone rates and reduce the data-plan prices. Then, we all can be happy buying unlocked phones and keeping them for more than 2-years instead of picking up AT&T junk phones and sending them to LANDFILLS every two years just because we are eligible for another upgrade.
say it with me people;
AT&T sucks!
Well.... consider this:
Apple is planning to release - push, mms, and video... all network intensive.
Could the current plan be considered "limited", and a new plan be with the above features???
Hopefully this doesnt mean price increases for said features...lol
I found this website that i linked to my name above actually found them in facebook, just click on my name to go there, dont worry, you dont need to be a facebook member. They had me up and running in no time and i now have complete access to their Apple developers account with my own user ID and password. They have links to the newest beta firmware for pc's and mac as well as iTunes 8.2 links. It was worth it, just my 2 cents for anyone who is in the same boat i was.
