Skyfire browser hits version 1.0 -- but not for BlackBerry just yet
Ironically, it could be argued that it's BlackBerry OS in most desperate need of a mega-capable browser right now, but to start off, Skyfire's tying up some loose ends and going gold with the Windows Mobile and S60 versions of its well-received app. Reflecting the impressive length, width, and girth of the WinMo version's private and beta periods, 1.0 is said to feature some key improvements around performance, battery drain, better navigation and a new search feature. The gold builds are available now over at Skyfire's website, and don't fret, BlackBerry folks -- we're told a public beta is next on the company's radar.

Any ideas if this is coming out for S60 V5 phones (i.e, 5800, N97)
Ofcourse it's coming, when? No idea. Soon I assume.
Woo Who! this just made my day, I'm gonna download it for my BlackJack II
c'mpn w/the BB version already!!! Looks great!!!
Can't wait to download this. I hope they made substantial improvements with the battery drain problem, since that is the major issue I've had with Skyfire.

Ugh! I hate the comment system here.
Still looks like hell on HTC touch HD Still no 480x800 Sup.
Looks terrible on my VGA device. I would swear it looks blurrier than the previous release.
Actually, bangbang023 is right. I just tested the new release on my phone (touch diamond CDMA version) and text is actually blurrier. There are some much nicer features (easier to select text for copy/paste), but nothing that'd make this my primary browser of choice until not only is the text issue fixed, but other issues as well.
My biggest one is this. When I go to input text, I tap on a text box. My phone being touch-screen with no slide-out keypad or anything of the like, I have to hit the button to bring up my on-screen keyboard. And when I do, absolutely nothing on the screen changes so I can possibly see where I'm typing. It makes it a hassle to use, really. Maybe I'll wait and see what new stuff comes in the next version of Opera Mobile or the new Mobile IE 6.
yeah, just what improvements are we talking about? previous version is blurry on VGA resolution. this version is not doing any better either. other than some interface change, the version is really practically the same as before.
well, it is free afterall, so we can't complain that much, yet.
This is fantastic news for windows mobile users... Skyfire giving us flash on mobile browsing is incredible... great job.
