Nokia N97 shipping from Amazon on June 25
We're not sure how closely we can correlate this to shipments through Nokia's other retail partners and fulfillment of the direct preorders, but for what it's worth, Amazon is now declaring on no uncertain terms that the N97 will be "in stock on June 25." That's just under a month away -- a little later than we'd hoped, admittedly, placed squarely in the middle of the completely inevitable Palm / Apple fracas that will consume us all. If Nokia's history is any indication, it's entirely plausible to believe that these things will be in stock at the company's flagship stores in Chicago and New York by a few days before Amazon ships, but not for $603.99, that's for sure.

While i truely want this phone, i'm going to wait until all the bugs are worked out and hopefully a price drop.
If past history is any indication, you're not going to be seeing any type of price drop anytime soon (see the N95), of course that could all change if AT&T grew a pair and carried this phone. Talk about firing a salvo at Apple, it would be the equivalent of taking a large oblong item and shoving it where the sun don't shine.
I'm totally over this phone. After owning virtually every N series since the N80 I have finally decided that Nokia have nothing new to offer.
The mp increases in the N86 are interesting, but the design is the essence of blah.
My N79 may make it a lot longer than I would have thought.
Wrong! I called up Amazon customer service and estimated delivery for those who pre-ordered earlier is still early June. Apparently the first shipment of units was eaten up by customers, so everyone pre-ordering from yesterday onward received estimated delivery dates of June 25th and onwards. Straight from the customer service reps, at least.
How Responsive is the Screen on this, looks like a Winner of a Device but I also wish the Keyboard didn't have that Directional Pad next to it.
look, i will be an N97 owner for sure. but am i the only one frustrated with the on going games with Nokia and allowing certain testers to play with it but not publish any software reviews? i mean, the N97 is an uphill battle here in the U.S. period. No subsidies...it is...and i love Nokia but we have to win the hearts and minds of yester years long past of former Nokia owners. the 5800 im sorry to say, but from first hand experience the phone sound quality was GREAT..speakers great...but even after the last big 20.1 something firmware the UI really was bad. I mean it wasnt smooth at all. So now you have all the bad press of the 5800 and then some bad press about tyring it out at trade shows even though its a demo model most are saying its not too good. I just feel like...DAMMIT...let someone give us a sneak review even if its a small one...i can't help but feel we arent getting it because it really isnt going to be so great...i mean..are they working 24 hrs round the clock perfecting and smoothing out that firmware? maybe thats it...they are working non stop. i mean...how much time in advance is production happening...how come with all the nokia fan websites...we cant even get a lock down on how the keyboard will be? last time i checked they say the keyboard isnt finalised yet. again i love nokia...but just frustrated with them..and my gut tells me its because its not very good...all that means for preorders from amazon is lots of people returning them..considering they are the cheapest and amazon has no restocking fee....lets get a review before the actual sale day...dont string your avid fans along so we buy it and then realize its far from ready...i know its business...but isnt anyone else frustrated by their marketing tactics.??
"No subsidies in the US..."
You can (or at least could as of last year) get a contract subsidy in the US from an authorized T-Mobile reseller. (Not an actual T-Mobile store.) T-Mobile lets authorized resellers apply contract subs to any GSM handset. Last time I got one it was $200 off for any monthly contract over $39 or $49 IIRC. (Yeah - I know T-Mobile data sucks in the US... but I got an N95 on a 1-year plan for $200 off and mostly use WiFi.)
and one more thing while im fired up....IT IS MY OPINION, that when they had a "glitch" that morning for several hours and people got a really good price first...then a second really good price...then suddenly nothing....i know on the east coast i woke up that morning around 730am i think i remember...by 745 am the site started to stick and i had to hit the process button like 20 times not giving up and then it accepted my credit card. my point is...many of us surf the n97 news...so the window frame of time apprently was small...so someone was up buying the U.S. phone from the US site and the first to leak the story was one of the Nokia fan sites...that incident..GENERATED HUGE AMOUNTS OF INTERNET BUZZ...HUGE...it was dead a week before that...only getting...lackluster press...then..its all $524.00!!! If i know marketing...it seems so obviously planted....not that anything is too wrong with it...cause it worked...i guess im again just frustrated with how nokia handles its US customers...i mean is it greed that keeps them from partnering with ATT or changing the circuitry to be on Tmobile??? how awsome it would have been for Tmobile to have snagged that as a compitetor for the Iphone..but no...instead we get the G1...from HTC...a low level player on the rise...you dont think Tmobile banked on that deal cause they controlled that deal? i guess im sounding a little to conspiracy theory crazy...lol...its late im rambling...nite you all...
Production is done.. Phones are packaged and sitting in warehouses.. The only thing I can think that is holding anything up is the distribution chain, or finishing off boxing/shipping etc.. It takes awhile to finish printing boxes and packing up the phones etc. This phone will be out first week of June.
Yo! I just spoke with Nokia and they stated they are shipping my phone within a week! Check my screenshots that led to my phone call inquiry on the thread I made:

i just receave an email from nokia confirming that my preorder will be ship in 3 business days.thankyou
If you're right, I will make a trip down to the Chi town store to take a look and spend some time with my future phone. I'm a N95 user and I love the S60 software (I just think it's intuitive as hell). I don't think I'll pull the trigger on the N97 until the end of the year just so there's some time to work out the kinks. I know I should hold out until the second release but I don't think I can wait that long. It's going to be a hell of an investment, but I can't wait to have it on the train in Chicago operating multiple functions (music, video or gaming) while some punk with an iPhone is staring over trying to figure out what phone I'm rockin. It will be worth the price of admission.
Pre-ordered the Nokia N97 in early May. Second order confirmation for the N97 received May 29th. Money deducted from my account June 9th. Called Nokia today June 10th. Confirmed that the N97 will be shipping in the next couple of days. Woo hoo!
Repeat: Nokia N97 shipping from Nokia to pre-order customers in the US starting around June 11 2009.
