Rogers' HTC Dream and Magic coming in at $149 through Best Buy?
We'd say that Best Buy's phone pricing is never a set-in-stone indication of the price you'll pay direct from the carrier, but it's probably pretty safe to assume from these tags that everyone -- Rogers, Best Buy, Future Shop, you name it -- will be charging within a few bucks of CAD $149.99 ($135) for your choice of the Dream or Magic when the Android sets launch on June 2. That's not too terribly bruising on the pocketbook, but that's going to be on a three-year contract with a minimum $45 voice / data plan; if you step down to a two-year deal, you jump all the way up to a whopping $449.99, and a contract-free purchase is going to set you back $599.99. Tell you what, Rogers: give us both the black and the white Dream for $450 on a two-year and you've got yourselves a deal. Sound good?

The Rogers I work at we got some flyers pinning the price at $200 for both, but we hold off on those. We will be getting other flyer to use on June 2nd that put the price at $150 for both. So, a timed promotion.
Would be nice if you could get a decent data plan from Rogers for $45. $80 for 5GB is just ridiculous.
Lol, that's the ooooooolllllllddddddddd sign stock. Where's the new crap?
That's Rogers for you. To buy my Nokia N95, I had to reject the worthless Vision plan they tried forcing on me, but I had to pay so much more extra for the phone. Rogers plans are worthless. I can't wait until Bell goes GSM. It would be nice if an operator like T-Mobile moved in.
If Rogers is getting Magic in the next week or so why is Tmobile (in the US) holding off until mid summer? Do they have a huge inventory of old Dreams to burn off? :)
Also the Dream Rogers is offering has a slightly nicer design (cosmetic tweaks) than the less than stunning Tmobile version - what gives with that?
Come on TMobile get the Magic out in June.
Rogers... fucking cell users in the ass for the last 15 years. No lube.
These plans, and phones have reached a price point now where it is just retarded.
I can't believe the jump between the price for 3 years and two. I have never done a 3 year plan because my phones never even last 2 years.
I have to see what the data/voice plan is for $45. Anyone know if it is one of their standard plans or a special one? Alternatively, can someone post the minutes/data cap for this plan?
While I'm here, a question for G1 users from the US. How much data would a person use in a month for GMail and light browsing (no downloads (music, etc.)).
Dave
To answer my own question ... I found this plan on Roger's site for $45: http://www.rogers.com/web/content/wireless-plans/45dataplan
200 minutes with unlim. evenings and weekends (9pm to 7 am)
500 MB data
+ a few other thing.
Can't say for sure if this is the plan they are talking about ... especially since this plan expires on Monday.
So what the hell. When is US getting the Magic??
i wouldnt go too in depth into these pictures, while yes they may be true when it happens, when anything i released at best buy the price is weird in the system, it corrects when the release date comes, and also if you look close enough to the bottom right corner you can see the sku. working there i know the sku system is only 7 digits long, this one is 8 and starting with a "1", that indicates it an online only sku, things may change, yes, but this is something as of right now i would take with a grain of salt.
3 year contract: Fone=$135 Bill=45*36=1620, total=1755/36=$48.7 per month
2 year contract: Fone=$450 Bill=45*24=1080, total=1530/24=$63.75 per month
1 year contract: Fone=$500 Bill=45*12=540, total=1040/12=$86.66 per month
Off contract: Fone=$550 Bill=45*12=540, total=1040/12=$91 per month
(assumption: without contract you keep the fone for a year)
So the longer you stay the cheaper the fone and the relation becomes, although logically there shud be a much cheaper V+D plan for off contract buyers since they are paying a premium for a device.
You can get unlimited on-device browsing at rogers for $7 a month... however... there are "exemptions" as to what phone you are using it on, and technically you can only use the crappy rogers mobile browser... but i use opera mini and have never had an issue even though i guess rogers could back charge me for all the data used... I don't know what they would do if i tried to get the phone and not change my plan... but i'll find out tomorrow...
As a current Rogers customer I just checked what my price would be online to upgrade and they're saying it will cost me $479.00 to upgrade on my current contract.... Its listed at $149 for new plans, and $500 something to buy just the phone with no plan.... I have always hated Rogers with a passion since they'll find any way to screw you, but that's just the Canadian mobile market for you, they all will screw you hard somehow. I am also a T-mobile customer in the states, my price to upgrade to the Dream/G1 there is $149. I believe I will upgrade through them instead.....skip having to deal with Rogers.
