Sony Ericsson X1 gets promising firmware update
We don't have confirmation whether BlackBerry connectivity is in there, but that rumored new firmware release for the X1 is apparently out and about. It's supposed to make the phone generally more responsive -- we always like to hear that -- but you'll also get a brighter keyboard backlight, improved messaging, and better signal strength. In other words, they seem to have hit a bunch of things that we wouldn't imagine could be fixed with a firmware update alone, so we're counting our blessings -- as long as this doesn't think they're allowed to slack on getting that X2 to market, that is.[Via CoolSmartPhone]

Ah the X1. Has there ever been a bigger bust of a smartphone?
Yes, the N96.
Been waiting for this update for a while + there is another one to come
It certainly was in need for a Firmware boost, if not more. But this shows us that Sony Ericsson is a company which learns from it's mistakes, unlike other big companies.
I'm eager for the Sony Ericsson's Satio, and hope they will make that a killer phone.
This is great news! Now, where can anyone BUY the friggin thing? SE is going DOWN.
r u seriously trying to say you can't find one to buy..even a caveman can find one..wake up
Updated and very dissapointing. Scrolling is better but everything else is slower. so much so that I may have to go back to the older one. I have talksed with other owners and they found the same thing. WOW!
Is it really that bad? Any difference in the signal strength?
I just ran the update and the phone has some improvements. I found it to be faster and consistent full bars for my signal.
The funny thing is that the Xperia is made by HTC not Sony Ericsson.
