The sides of the springboard area are different where the icons are versus the sides where the dock is.

Yep, I see that too in the lower left of the phone, where the bottom docked icons meet the regular icons.

If this is the new Phone..... Iphone sales are gonna go down faster than GM....... Because Every freakin year its the Same phone, The same style, Slight OS change and Slight design change...... And the pass it off as a NEW HIGH END PHONE OF THE YEAR. Well I think after 2 Times, This 3rd time isnt gonna work, Sales are down in every market around the world even the US because first everyone has one, and second the all say it sucks, HTC TOUCH PRO 2(HTC made, WM, Low Priced, Keyboard), NOKIA N97(Largest memory on a phone 32GB Plus 16GB, HD screen, Qwarty Keyboard, And tilted screen), Toshiba TG01(Way bigger screen, Thinner, faster and Better OS) and maybe ASUS M900 and G3. Iphone isnt gonna get anymore market share unless the change how the phone looks or Maybe even a Qwarty keyboard will do.

The TG01 comes with Windows Mobile 6.1 and a just another on top home screen UI - thats definitely not a "Better OS": it's the same inconsistent and modern-API-less stuff like all that creapy WinMo phones out there.
@ christian Two things First Windows mobile might not be the best..... actually it is, But Iphone can NVR!!!!!!!!!!! ever touch Wm in turms of os, Iphone cannot be costumized at all, its is the same crap everything you turn your screen on, Windows mobile can Copy anyphones OD even the Iphone, and It has better one, Like BellUI.
Second- The TG01 Was made for Windows mobile 7.0, and it ships with 6.5, so Ya, 6.1 sucks, but it wont have it.
So unless you have never owned an actual smartphone(Wm, Blackberry, Symbian S60) or your on Apples Nut**. You wont say Iphone's OS is good.

Also Ya, your right, It will sell alot to americans only, everywhere else. The name apple on a boring, non spacial product Device wont sell.

This picture seems very consistent with all the rumors floating around. Almost every apple product gets leaked a few days before the official announcement, so I think it is most likely real.
I don't think this is the rumored low-end iPhone because it has 16GB of storage, and if there is a low-end iPhone released it would most likely have 4 or 8 GB of storage.
I was really hoping Apple would make a more radical design change to the new iPhone, so if this is the real deal I'm going to be disappointed. Personally, I think the iPhone design is starting to become stale and boring.
The design becoming stale? Sure you can say that about the iPods, but iPhone has only had 2 generations, and aside from the face of the original iPhone, the design of the 3G is much different. Why change what is doing so well already.
I say fake. I won't be convinced until someone physically walks out on stage at WWDC and shows the device off.
@BOSS, the N97, much less any phone, has a high def screen. It's "nHD" at 640x360, lower than HTC's new phones with WVGA screens at 800x480. Still, both have higher resolutions and pixel density than the iPhone.
Thats true, But dont forget that The Touch Pro 2, Is sitting at a aweful 65k colors on it wvga screen at 4:3 pixel aspect ratio with Nokia it has a Vga scree...... Not too bad, 16Million colors, so everything looks great on its screen, and 16:9 Ration....... Which Gives it a nHD screen, So you cant really say the TP2 is as good as the nokia, because only thing that it has better than the nokia is the wide screen, and even with that Things still looks way better on the nokia than the TP2
it looks like one of those fake chinese iphones where they look real on the back. If you look at the back and compare it to both real iphones of first generations the amount of memory should be under the designed by apple in california and if you havn't noticed there isn't a FCC label on any of the real iphones.

Does the new iPhone finaly have a removable battery like the rest of the worlds phones or do you still have to carry a charger with you so you can plug it and charge it after 6 hours when the battery dies?

Ya, SO this better not be it, Because Only Palm and Blackberry are allowed To come with the same phone every year. Also Like iphone really needs a keyboard in my opinion, i have an iphone and i hate oncreen keys
After The Second Phone, If it looks like this, then ya..... Its super stale.
Its doing SOOOOO bad this year, There sales has taking a sky dive. Most people already have it, and are bored of it, Just watch Cnet tv, The all own one and all say it sucks. And about the "dont change whats doing well........ YA, trust me, Its far from doing well. In US maybe its selling a little but in europe, Its not selling, In asia where there giving it free with a contract, people still dont want it. So i really thing Its time for Change.

The chrome edge sucks...it gets all scratched so i hope this is the one...but i don't see any headphone jack like we saw a few days ago.
We can all hope this one is open for all operators, but that will probably just remain in all of our dreams
Hey, WHO CARES if you people want to sit there bitching about a perfectly solid, well made artifact? It constantly amazes me the amount of dross what must be the 'average reader' on this website seems to come up with when considering (or should that be NOT considering) what to post in the Comments.
It's an iPhone.
It's going to look the same, not matter how many minor (MINOR) design changes are added to tweak the original.
The spec is going to be better. Who cares how much better? If you don't like it, or don't want one, or could not care less about the Apple offering in the first place but feel your opinion just HAS to be heard, DON'T BOTHER READING THE ARTICLES.
Who cares about whether you think it looks cheap or it needs a 'design update' or a chrome rim or as far as you are concerned is 'stale and boring'? Apple designed and built it, apple can do whatever the hell they want to with it.
And if you don't like it, don't worry, there are hundreds of THOUSANDS of well adjusted consumers out there who do. Like i said; no-one cares.

Also, To date The Nokia N95 and N95 8GB has still sold more than the Iphone, Thats sad, considering how ugly that phone was, i owned one. But it till was awesome, Nokia like nvr changes the inside of the phone just like apple never changes the outside, But the always change the Outside, unlike apple.
as soon as the iphone fanboys stop bitching about what sprint comes out with, then maybe this "artifact" will stop being punished for what it is. Stale bread.

Honestly I don't want a new iPhone and I'm not getting one. I want OS 3.0 and than some more tweeks after that. My 1st gen iPhone is working for me and we don't have 3G from at&t here yet, so do want you do best Apple and work on improving the UI. A $99 iPhone and improvements on the OS should be the focus, IMO.
