Relax engadget. Dang. Not everyone is supposed to look like people in Apple commercials. Dang.
Next you'll be saying he shouldn't wear a suit or tie. Biznass people use holsters. That's how it is. They don't care if it looks nerdy they are about biznass and easy access. Hence, he's the Prez.
You may think keeping it in your front pocket is better but when your sitting and get a call it's hard to get at it as opposed to it being in a holster. IMHO.
I personally keep it in my front pocket though. But it does suck to get at when sitting. Gotta stand up or straighten out.
Everything. Cell phone holsters are NEVER acceptable. It is just one of those things everybody feels in their soul. And when you see your clueless middle-aged father put one on you immediately tell him NO.
"Washington-based Genesis Key developed the special security software for Obama’s new 8830, called SecureVoice, which will presumably run alongside the traditional BlackBerry OS. Officials from the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA), the White House Communications Agency (part of the Pentagon’s Defense Information Systems Agency), Research In Motion (RIM) and Genesis Key all collaborated on the presidential ‘Berry. The software is designed to provide secure access to NSA Top Secret information, which is one of the highest U.S. security classifications."
Is there a better way to not bend your headphone cord? If the phone (or mp3 player, or whatever) is in my pocket, every time I sit I bring my headphone jack one step closer to death, but if I had a holster, it'd be safe...
From what I understood, he was allowed to keep his Blackberry, but strictly for personal stuff. All POTUS stuff has to go through his Sectera Edge.
In any case, sure holsters are useful...but they're dorky. Period. I sometimes hate having the 'berry in my pocket, which results in me hand-carrying the thing, but I just cannot do a holster. No, sirree.
Lol. I hope you guys are just joking, cus the ones of you who aren't joking are retarded. :) Ya Obama was supposed to give up his BB when he became president cus people can hack into it and see confidential stuff.
ALTHOUGH, RIM was supposed to be working on a secure version for him and other high security people around the world. SO either Obama isn't listening and is using one anyways OR this is the secure version we heard was in development by RIM before.
So where is the proper inquisical "I wonder if this is the top secret blackberry people were talking about before?"
1. I can see the "mistake" of having a holster in the pic - it not only shows WHERE he keeps his phone for easy access, but it also can easily be identified to a trained eye what phone he has, and if its "hackable" and from the looks of it, that phone he has is NOT the one he should be using.
2. When the fuck did Engadget become the fashion police? And when the hell did they start talking crap about anything that protects a valued phone? ESPECIALLY putting down the presidents choice of holster... poor taste on Engadgets part.
3. He is the leader of the free-world, let him wear and do whatever the hell he likes, as long as a job he has at hand gets done.
“One wonderful Samsung addition to the traditional Android experience is a "real" camera button on the side, which can even register half-presses for focus.”
Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
i dont get it.
It's pink
wow this is some great reporting, thanx......
It's not pink, it's chrome reflecting off of something.

Don't be too harsh on him, he ain't no middle management. It's probably a early father's day gift from his kids... right?
Holsters ARE cool......only if you are the prez though. :)
I don't get it either, WTF is wrong with a holster?
If you have to ask... never mind.
Everything. Cell phone holsters are NEVER acceptable. It is just one of those things everybody feels in their soul. And when you see your clueless middle-aged father put one on you immediately tell him NO.
I'd rather have a buffalo take a diarrhea dump in my ear...then wear a cellphone holster!
Like a boss?
I feel a remix coming on...
I wear a holster like a boss,
I use my blackberry like a boss,
I am the prez like a boss.
I am equally confused.
Looks professional to me. Or is it a mistake because it's not the "iPhone" in the holster?
Because it is a Blackjack case...?
nonono.. I thought he had to give up his Blackberry after becoming Prez. That appears to be 'berry.
He didn't need to give it up, he can use it for personal usage, it's just not acceptable for business usage.

Obama got a souped up BB

it looks geeky ... that's how a geek place his holster.
If you have to ask... then the guy who posted this is the only one who gets it.
Oy.

Or maybe I should forgo the entire problem and get the best bag on earth http://tinyurl.com/la9bsj
That's the best bag EVER!!!!!

What's with the rock&roll hand gesture of Rohm Emanuel??
I wonder what they were talking about...
Emmanuel is missing part of his middle finger, dude.
Obama is not supposed to use the blackberry, he had a selection of two phones, but it looks like he is using a Blackberry!@!!!!!
Not secure enough!
Are you an idiot?
Presidents should not carry a phone... it is well known fact.
What? A holster can be very useful. Stop being snobs.
From what I understood, he was allowed to keep his Blackberry, but strictly for personal stuff. All POTUS stuff has to go through his Sectera Edge.

Btw, why doesn't he upgrade from the 8820/8830??
Seriously, what is the big deal, its a holster, and it has his BlackBerry.

I just hope he made sure to put it in airplane mode!
