Samsung Omnia II now official: AMOLED touchscreen with TouchWiz 2.0 destined for Verizon
Although not exactly the best kept secret (we first caught wind last week), Samsung's Verizon-bound Omnia II / I8000 is now one hundred percent official, along with even more official US confirmations for the Omnia Pro B760 (Louvre) slider, Omnia Pro B7320 candybar, and the Omnia Lite B7300. Specs for the Omnia II are just a little different than what we previously heard: 3.7-inch AMOLED resistive touchscreen with WVGA (480 x 800) resolution, 7.2Mbps HSPA (or EV-DO Rev. A for Verizon's version), 5 megapixel camera, 720 x 480 at 30fps video recording, 2GB to 16GB internal storage with microSD expansion slot, Bluetooth 2.0, WiFi, AGPS, and TouchWiz 2.0 UI. As for the Lite, we're looking at HSDPA, WiFi, 3 megapixel camera, AGPS, and just as the name suggests, a good likelihood it'll be overshadowed by its more feature-rich brother.
Update: We can't say it's unexpected, but just to be clear, Omnia II buyers shouldn't worry about living in the past. Yahoo! Tech reports its WinMo 6.1 underbelly will be later upgradeable to 6.5.

Im so confused . u bunched 3 phones into this post. Where was the confirmation that the omnia 2 is going to verizon? because at the bottom all that was posted was hspa phone specs i didnt see cdma anywhere there
The HSPA was for the Omnia Lite. If you look at the big long runon sentance right before that it says: "Specs for the Omnia II are just a little different than what we previously heard: 3.7-inch AMOLED resistive touchscreen with WVGA (480 x 800) resolution, EVDO Rev A, 5 megapixel camera, 720 x 480 at 30fps video recording, 2GB to 16GB internal storage with microSD expansion slot, Bluetooth 2.0, WiFi, AGPS, and TouchWiz 2.0 UI." The confirmation on Verizon service isn't spelled out, but the specs for the Omnia II say EVDO Rev A!
Kabbo, the Samsung m850 Dash (Instinct 2) info leaked in march as on Sprint's roadmap for Q3 2009 is listed as EVDO Rev A as well.

People shouldn't be reporting info unless its fact or at least specify which info is speculation.
here we go, this article says here the info comes from, Samsung themself.

The phone looks good and it has good features, but I hate windows mobile. And I haven't even used the Touchwiz thing on my current omnia since I got 7 months ago....
Summary: Nice Concept, but lose the windows mobile and the touchwiz/widget bar.
And what about the battery that has to run all this stuff? Is it going to make it two days with heavy usage?
Why do you need two days of battery life on a phone...is plugging it in every night that difficult?
Yeah, it's so difficult to plug my phone in. How about because I shouldn't have to with today's phones. My E71 goes 3 days with constant email updates and usage of the web and google maps, not to mention phone calls. I never have to worry about it making it 2 days, even with a really heavy load. My N95 however if I happened to forget to charge it every night would end up dead by 11AM the next day. That's why at least 2 days means something to me. I'm sick of having to worry about charging it every night. I shouldn't have to bring a charger everywhere I go, especially with a newer phone. I expect them to last. Is that too much to ask for?
And why the hell can you demand phones to have batteries that can last even more time?!?!
They have the technology, but we all now that they don't want to give to us...
how can you say that its going to have a wm6.5 upgrade??? i dont see a hardware windows button...
perhaps the windows hardware button is on the side...no one said it had it be on the front...has anyone seen the side of it yet?
Damn...I just don't see the point...why put an F'ing Wifi into a phone that is for a company who is going to FORCE you into getting a data plan? For faster net? I would get this phone in an instant if it wasn't for the RETARTED mandatory data plan.
What I want to know is if it will have it's GPS (or aGPS) locked down similar to the current Omnias. Still waiting on that update from Verizon.
Clearly this Omnia II is going to be an interesting play for both windows mobile and the various carriers. This will be a good market test with these incredible features such as the huge screen and the 8 mp camera, not to mention all the other goodies as well.
Nice dangling of the meaningless WM6.5 carrot which still can't support current-gen (iPhone/Palm) features and hardware.
complaints, complaints, complaints!!! sick and tired of hearing all the negative stuff. it's as simple as this...if it's really bad whether it's the phone, the battery, or the carrier, don't get it!!! as for the final specs, we can only wait until it actually gets released by Verizon. i am waiting for this model and i will take my chances. good or bad, i will get it if i can afford it.
