G1 Touch branding confirmed for T-Mobile UK's next Android device
Unless the box art's been scrapped at the last minute, we're still expecting T-Mobile USA to use the myTouch 3G branding for its version of the HTC Magic in the US -- but over in the UK, the local division just dropped some knowledge that its second Android device will be known as the G1 Touch. We already had a hint of this from a Dutch rumor, so it doesn't come as much of a surprise; problem is, we still don't know what the G1 Touch is. We're thinking it's likely not the Magic since Vodafone already stole its thunder there -- T-Mobile's going to be looking for some attention with this one -- and this lines up nicely with the fact that there's a big HTC event in London next week. A totally new HTC set running Android on T-Mobile? Count us in.

wouldnt the magic be the second android phone? this would be the 3rd or am i crazy
it is the third android phone, but its the second android phone from tmobile. The magic is for vodafone and this is almost a clone of the magic just so that tmobile can release the magic.
This branding strategy T-Mobile is using is just horrible. Absolutely horrible. It confuses consumers on what device they'll actually be purchasing as one device can have so many names depending on the markets it's sold to. I like the fact that Rogers in Canada just left it as the HTC Dream and HTC Magic. Simple, clear, and doesn't confuse the consumer with this myTouch 3G BS. Call a phone one name, make it simple.
What if Tmo USA gets the Mytouch 3G and Uk Gets the Hero As the G1 touch, since the Hero Looks more like The G1
I agree... gonna be the Hero. It looks like the G1 without the keyboard... therefore, G1 Touch.
damn, i was hoping tmo usa was going to announce the magic :'(
i NEED that phone.. lol
You know I'm kinda wary about an Android device with no physical keyboard. I've not been greatly impressed by the accuracy with the osk on my G1. It seems to me the Instinct S30 and the iPhone 3G have much more accurate touchscreens. At least that's from my experience.
the htc virtual keyboard is miles better than the android virtual keyboard, for anyone wondering.
