HTC Hero running Android and Sense UI leaks from HTC's own website (updated and official)

As we prepare for HTC's official launch event today, we're starting to see some details appear on HTC's own website of the much rumored Hero. Through some URL trickery, we've managed to unearth several details that confirm the previous rumors. Hero includes the new HTC Sense widget-based interface that puts at-a-glance info right up front on the home screen where it belongs. A new Scenes profile feature lets you transform your phones focus from business to weekend mode. Viewing your contacts shows the usual data in addition to the interactions you've had through social networking status updates and photos from the likes of Facebook, Flickr, YouTube, and Twitter. A dedicated search button searches the phone as well as services like Twitter. In fact, like Palm's Pre, the HTC Hero seems ready to fully integrate your local data with all your subscribed social media sites. Update: First images are out! More after the break. Inside you'll find Qualcomm's MSM7200A proc running Android at 528MHz, 512MB/288MB ROM/RAM, 3.2-inch TFT-LCD with 320 x 480 pixel rez, 900/2100MHz HSPA and Quad-band GSM, trackball, GPS, 802.11b/g WiFi, 3.5mm audio jack, G-sensor, compass, and 5 megapixel auto-focus cam with microSD expansion. It's all there baby.

Update 2: A bit more detail just rolled in. The White version has an industry-first Teflon coating (right, just like your pans) to keep things clean and grime free. Multi-touch and anti-fingerprint coating too. Hero arrives in Europe in July on T-Mobile and Orange, Asia later in the summer, and North America even later in 2009.

Oh boy im torn between this phone or the galaxy but im leaning more towards the Hero it looks interesting with the Rosie interface & 3.5MM something the "My touch" lacks....

oh, sure, NOW HTC starts putting 3.5mm jacks on their phones. Couldn't have done with the the G1 ... *grumble*


Also, this thing comes with Adobe Flash 10, as well. First android handset to have it.

Very nice, but they'll probably port Rosie to the Galaxy a little while after it breaks, and that's where I'm at. Someone will make a decent tutorial on how to do it too, lol. ...hopefully.

I hope so too... but I don't think it will happen cause it doesn't support AT&T's 3G bands. This leave us with the Lancaster, which I seriously doubt will be as nice as the Hero. Plus a lot of the headlines are dubbing this as T-Mobile's new G1 Touch, as if that makes any sense from a naming standpoint??

OK, so is HTC ever going to start using chipsets other than the failtastic Qualcomm 7200 series? Qualcomm's own Snapdragon, nVidia's Tegra, and TI's 3430 chipsets are all out there and being used by other manufacturers, while HTC keeps trying to squeeze every penny and use that 7200 trash. Otherwise, this phone rocks my socks.

Can someone who knows more about this stuff than me speculate about whether it's possible for sense to run on G1 and or the upcoming mytouch? We've seen hacks with multitouch on the g1 so...is it possible?

The bonus of them reusing the same [old] processor is that they can get a lower price with higher volumes on top of the savings versus using a newer, faster processor. Some of the money will trickle into development of new Android devices, which HTC is already leading the pack in. Eventually, we'll see the [near] perfect Android or Windows Mobile uberphone from HTC as a result from the sales of these midrange smartphones. Hopefully one with a dedicated shutter button, an improved 5MP+ camera sensor, and at least a dual LED flash, if not a xenon.
