Zer01 "launches," still not really available to end users
Upstart Zer01 has been touting its so-called "Veritable Mobile Convergence" technology since early in the year, promising to attach to all sorts of carriers with which it has agreements around the world to bring unlimited data and calling to the masses, and now they've launched -- sort of. It turns out that the company is actually looking for partners that'll resell the service, which focuses on data and uses VoIP to deliver on its promises; what that means to anyone navigating to the site right now to sign up for a new line is that... well, you can't. You'll need to buy service through a distributor, and since Zer01 doesn't have a distributor network yet, that's a little hard to do -- so for all practical purposes, the wait for cheap wireless data nirvana continues.

Pre launch fail.
What does the Pre have to do with anything?
Wait, nevermind, strike that...
I really would get Zer01 if it was straight to the end-users, but better yet If I could get it on my current phone. As launch phones are all Windows Mobile.
the wait continues....sadly.
Pleaseeeee please please please pleaseeeeeeeeeee be real please?
Why would you want everything to be VoIP?? I definitely still appreciate GSM for voice calls...
It is real. And it uses 2100mhz part of the spectrum. You can get signed up you just have to find a distributor. You can also use you existing GSM phone for the service. There is a distributor network set up. If you are interested in the service or products reply for info on how to get set up
brettconnect is right. The service is real. I've been on the phone with various reps beta testing the service and the quality is indistinguishable from current cellular. I've also been able to connect with some of the technical individuals connected with BuzzirkMobile on specifics. The first set of individuals receiving the 'service' will be the distributors. The mentality is to get the 'service and product (exclusive smartphones)' in the hands of a distributor to be able to show the service and product working. Shortly after, a month or so, any one wishing to be a preferred customer (everyone is a 'preferred customer') is welcomed to the unlimited goodness. If anyone is interested in the elaborated feature-set, let me know!
Have you actually talked on the phone? How many people were apart of the beta test? Do you know what states were involved in the tests? I have read that it uses the AT& T platform to a certain degree.
Thanks
Marshall
A quick look at the webpage allows you to actually register for service through their first operating MVNO http://www.buzzirkmobile.com/index.html services is 79.95 a month for domestic US with 3 phones avail to purchase
HTC Diamond @ 375, HTC Tytan II for 399 and Pharos Traveler 137 for 499
WHile it is fairly stupid to have the only current operator hidden in the contact page at @http://www.zer01mobile.com/contactUs.php there is in fact a way to actually order it "today"
Has anyone bought the bullet and signed up? waiting for reviews!
All that are interested in becoming a Buzzirk Mobile Distributor for Zer01 Mobile services should register at BuzzirkMobileDistributors.com.
For consumers who only wish to use the service, they can email info@buzzirkmobiledistributors.com to be notified right before the service becomes available to the public. Please keep in mind that the public launch phased roll out will be done on a first-come-first-serve basis!
Additional information on pricing, features and coverage can be found on the web site.
Zer01 should be sending me a demo unit soonish. Will be interesting to see how it works...AT&T has EDGE where I am.
Cool. Just remember if you have edge where you at, you still will get edge there. Look at how their service reads that you get whats best in your area. If you accept 3g then you get 3g but if you area only supports edge then edge is all you will get.
When will it be available to the public? Read that the voice quality is good, but has any one tried the steaming video or video conferencing?
They are slowing rolling out the service from the top - down. It would not be wise to overload it with end users as of yet. So while this has launched it has not fully launched. Be patient.
When it is fully ready to go it will offer the first truly unlimited voice/data/texting/internet
No Fees | No Taxes | No Roaming Charges | No Contracts
It will be everything that the current carriers are not.

I've personally worked in the telecom industry for a number of years and it's not unusual for a company to have a 'soft' launch in order to ensure that the service and devices are running up to par. Once the current distributors receive their devices, use them for a few weeks, and get comfortable with them then there will be an official launch to the general public.
My team (Mobile Riches) is an independent distributor for Global Verge. We market the new Zer01 mobile services. You can visit the following website for additional information - http://www.mygvbiz.com/mobileriches or contact me at 404.300.9832.

I started researching this company a couple of weeks ago when a friend told me the had an opportunity for me. Just spoke with him.. only a select "few" got a phone.. but they wont say who those select few are.. Heck of a way to promote a product.
If you do a google search on zer01.. you will see that everywhere there is a place to post.. people are talking about recruiting more people to sell this product. While there is NO product to sale ATM the new people still have to pay..
I find it a little odd that a new product such as this has not been turned over to tech reporters for reviews. If you do a little digging into Unified Tech.. whatever.. it doesnt look like a multibillion dollar company to me.. most of the big companies dont have broken websites.. misspelled words on them and borrow "coverage" maps from other companies..
