I am happy to say that the posters above me realize that all carriers have these phones in place for those not looking to control their iHome with their iGarbage. The majority of the mass market for cell phones only requires a few things in a cell phone: 1. quality phone 2. Better than sub-par service and call quality 3. the ability to make calls and send/receive few messages.

This phone, although very introductory, fits that to a T and will appeal to a lot of people wanting a free phone. That paired up with Verizon's excellent signal; they can't go wrong....

But it looks like Verizon has puked it's god awful UI on it, locked down Bluetooth and WHAT??? no WiFi?!?!?! man!

the majority of their phones aren't capable to roam with....and those that are....cost a fortune to roam compared to GSM roaming through international GSM.

besides .... if people want to get work done with their phone for business ... who would actually get a flip phone???
