Sprint's crazy "Inferno" BlackBerry Curve 8330 now available
We know you. You're the type of self-styled individual that likes to play by your own rules. You effortlessly mix work and play, transitioning from power lunches, to 2PM meetings, to 5PM happy hours, and you never change phones. You want your BlackBerry to make a statement -- a bold statement (but not that Bold). For you, Sprint and RIM proudly present a new color of the Curve 8330, "Inferno" -- and as the name implies, it blinds the retinas. It's available for $49.99 after discounts on contract, the same you'll pay for the far less statement-making titanium and red variations. You do want to make a statement, don't you?

I dont know burnt orange thats hecka ugly if uglier than that tmobile pale gold
I love this color. this pix is a bad representation. it actually looks really sleek. its not a russet orange, its a bit brighter and it fits nicely with the black. it looks real slick. i just bought one and love it and everyone i show it 2 is in love with it and it seems to always turn heads. xcept for all those orange haters :P
I don't think it's really making a bold statement except for the fact its screaming to be thrown in the trash with that despising color.
This is a perfect example, of why Sprint is absolutely irrelevant in the mobile world.
You're releasing a phone, the Tour, that's the next generation of this type of phone.
But instead of promoting the hell out of it, you release an orange version of an outdated phone?! Congrats Sprint.
Actually.....it isnt a bad idea to offer a 3rd color of a phone. Especially considering that the "Outdated" phone is one that you can get for a measily $50..or $40 at bestbuy. Want a Blackberry but dont have $200 and dont like red or gray..try orange. I just think Orange was a bad choice....black or a blue maybe.
Anybody who pays attention to RIM devices knew this was coming out....since other carriers offer this same phone its really a matter of carrier preference.
the Curve is $50, the Tour is $200. I'm fairly certain Blackberry doesn't mind the market share from selling tons of curves and I'm also pretty certain that Sprint doesn't mind the recurring data revenue they're getting from all of these devices being eaten up at such a cheap price. Carriers really don't make much, if anything, off of the actual device. It's the monthly charges where they'll make it, chances are if someone is carrying a blackberry that they'll have a data plan and a higher monthly charge to go along with it.
I almost threw up when I first saw that color on that phone... should've been thrown in an inferno prior to production IMO...
It maybe outdated but for some who don't need the TOUR, this curve is still good enough. And for $50? You can't beat the price. I actually like this Orange color. It's not bad, better than that dreary, dull Grey color. They should have released a Dark Blue as well.
This Curve will do fine for those who want a BB for the first time. It's a VERY good starting point.
HOOK 'EM
Yeah, it is almost a burnt shade.
if you care about this phone, Best buy has it for $30 on New or upgrade (was in the paper this morning)
It actually doesn't look as bad as everyone is making it seem. The picture isn't a great representation of what it looks like in the hand. It launched today and believe it or not we had a lot of people show interest in it. Out of 6 BlackBerry Curves sold today, 2 were the new Inferno color.
This is ACTUALLY a SMART move from Sprint there doing the samething AT&T did when they started selling the iPhone 3G for $100
I think the orange 8330 is nice. The Tour, while I'm sure it's a nice
phone, looks like a buttoned-up business machine, especially with that
metal piping on the edges. (more black and grey...)
I think this orange one will sell like hot cakes. And at these prices
($50, and free in some locations) the kids are buying them like mad. I
see high school kids and college students with them everywhere these
days. I bet to them this thing is a sight nicer looking than the Tour.
@ronno: Why are you stalking around high schools?
I live in NYC - there are high schools everywhere, colleges everywhere, elementary school kids on the subway, we're all mixed in here ;-)
Nice that you get so intimate with your demographic.
I haven't seen this device in person so I can't comment on how ugly or nice the actual color is. I DO like the concept of different colors. Yeah black, gray will be fine for the average suit-wearing dude, but it's time to get some colors, and honestly, blue, red, pink and white are getting overused. Bring in the orange, yellow, purple, brown and forest green!!!
I think it's cool, wish they had it when I bought mine.
What, a re-hash of an old phone needs it's own name and marketing?! It's a freakin' Curve with orange paint! C'mon Sprint, wake up and smell the coffee! And the timing is über-lame too. Like everyone has said, we need this on the launch of the Tour?! No wonder why Sprint is in such disarray. They're morons!
The Tour is nice whether VZW or Sprint (and BTW Sprint's Tour is available online thru Sprint's website), but it is not THAT more improved over the Curve. I seen all the specs for both and honestly the Tour is NOT worth $199. It's a repackaged Curve. RIM is just charging you more for a sliver and black Curve.
I'll take this orange curve (Or buy new housing and custom the curve) and wait til RIM releases the Atlas with WiFi. At least for $199 with WiFi its a starting point. They need to rev it up like releasing more optical trackball BB devices. Then $199 it's worth to upgrade from the Curve.
Too many people bought into the Tour Hype. I didn't, it's a CURVE
when my grey curve broke about 6 or 7 months back, they replaced it in red; they asked me which color i wanted.
anyone think they'd let me ask for an orange one, if, oh, by chance my red curve breaks?
i personally don't hate it that much. i think it would go great with my 2 orange outfits. lol.
I just picked up the inferno curve a few days ago. I wanted a new blackberry and my wife had picked up the grey one a month before. I like the orange, looks much better in person and it's just a little different (it's also Giants colors! go SF!). plus, for $50 its a real bargain. compared to the other phones sprint offers for that money there is no comparison.
i have the inferno i love it what i love more is the free apps @ blackberryappworld i got a app that you can call somebody with someone elses number and it even show on theirl bill like the other person called evn though it was you lol
This phone looks very trendy. It has a good set of features. This phone supports GPS, bluetooth but lacks wi-fi. I like the qwerty keyboard feature. I am impressed by the light-sensing technology. Image quality is just average. Text messaging is fun. For people who have a tight budget and are ok with non touch screen phones, this is the best option.
