HTC XV6975 picks up GCF approval en route to Verizon
If you're holding out for a Touch Pro2 on Verizon... well, we really don't want to jump the gun and say that your wait won't be much longer -- the original Touch Pro just launched last November -- but signs of a XV6975 in a major certifying body are certainly a step in the right direction. We've heard from our sources that the XV6975 is going to be the go-to-market model number used by Verizon for its version of the Touch Pro2, and the Global Certification Forum has just gone ahead and approved precisely that model. If you're wondering what's up with all the mentions of GSM and HSDPA, wonder not -- like Telus, Verizon will be getting a global device for the business-minded folk that are likely to be latching onto this thing. Add in a 3.5mm jack and it's just a bag of awesome, isn't it?

Update: We're being told by commenters Yums and Verizon Tester that this'll actually be the Touch Diamond2 -- probably not as hotly-anticipated as the Pro2, but still a nice little device to have nonetheless (especially with a global radio thrown in). Guess we'll have to wait and see how this shakes out.

The Touch Pro 2 is the xv6875. This is something else....
Both will be Global with 3.5mm
Hmm... sure the XV6875 isn't the Diamond2?
Diamond 2?
XV6875 is in fact the TP2 because the sku for the TP1 is XV6850 and the Diamond is XV6950.
Also, I just found out a great tid bit of information. A coworker of mine is working on Android devices and I was told that Verizon will be seeing an Android device much sooner than most people have expected. The rumors are indeed true and the first Android phone will be the Motorola A855 (it will be a smart phone) as pictured previously on this site. I will keep everyone up to date as I get more info!

But WHEN will they be released. That is the question.
What's this one gonna cost, $500 on a two year contract?
Damn I wonder if Verizon is already gonna release the Diamond 2? That'd be pretty sweet. Man, I think the big red's Fall/Winter lineup is going to be amazing.
I did some searching and it looks like the 6975 is the Touch Pro 2 and the Diamond 2 will be the 6950.
Sorry, I'm gonna have to call BS that the XV6975 is the Diamond2. First of all, it's already showing up in Cellebrite as the Touch Pro2 under that model number.
Not to mention the unlikely scenario of Verizon releasing the Diamond2 so soon after launching the Diamond.
The XV6975 is the Diamond2. The XV6875 is the Touch Pro2. I have used the TP2 and I can verify that it is labeled as a "XV6875". The prerelease version I used was equipped with an ExtUSB jack and WinMo 6.1, but we are being told that the production version will ship with a 3.5mm jack and WinMo 6.5. It really is a nicely built device. Feels leaps and bounds better than my current VZW Touch Pro.
so what are we looking at for a release-- Dec?
Release time frame for fall? The customer service people do not even know it exists so they are no help at all.
VZWSteve: Do you know whether or not the amount of RAM is the same as HTC markets the Touch Pro 2 (299 MB)?
Now THAT'S a question.
