Nokia throws "Xseries" into the ring, too?

You know the saying "where there's smoke, there's fire"? Yeah, well, this is kind of like that, except its.. uh, "where there's Cseries, there's Xseries." Stay with us: on Saturday we reported that Nokia had filed for a trademark on the "Cseries" name, ostensibly for a new line of smartphones, MIDs, or netbooks to complement its existing Nseries and Eseries lines. Now it seems the intriguing-sounding "Xseries" is in the mix, too, thanks to details coughed up by the EU's Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market. This particular mark was filed in Switzerland, but something tells us they don't just plan on selling some crazy new line of devices in the Alps, if you know what we're saying; like the Cseries, though, the question of what the Xseries is exactly remains to be answered.

Maybe they are. X series could be their flagship line.
Let's hope Nokia isn't biting Sony Ericsson, and are jumping the obvious gun to bottle neck what Sony Ericsson have already established without the use of patents.

Though that would 'up the game' if the X series is the flagship line, though most definitely disheartening if Nokia stays true to use only Symbian software. (Since the N97 seems to be a big hit, and is the company's flagship model to date)
Unless they change it up somehow to be much more intuitive than UIQ. BlackBerry software is very to the point, even more so than UIQ. Only thing that makes it a bit intimidating is the quantity of options it has, and in the face of WinMo (and maybe even Apple's iPhone OS), the amount of applications it(they) has to make it even more of an accessible device is better than what Symbian has to offer.

I think C series would be for Netbook/ MID etc, because C sounds like computer. X series- I think for devices that combines the goodies of Eseries and Nseries. But, anyway these are just speculations. Let's wait for these two series' to come out.

I think the C-Series will be the Camera series and the X-Series will be the new XpressMusic series.

Finally... The X series will be their new line replacing Nseries, with Symbian 2.

The C series should be for netbooks.

Sounds likely to me. Symbian^2 development should be underway in earnest in a couple of months, with the first devices out next year. They need a way of pushing that line as a new product, seperate from the increasingly crowded Nseries.

well, both cseries and xseries have the following entered as the list of goods and services in their applications:

Nice Classification: 9
List of goods and services Mobile phones, smart phones, accessories and replacement parts for mobile phones.

How about this http://xseries.three.com/ ? Point of that service is "your internet, anytime, everywhere". First mobile device that came up in my mind was "N97" (They sell it in Finland with same kind of ideology). Maybe "X" stands for "Xperience" like "experience your internet". So if Xseries is all about N97-like devices running on Symbian^2 or Maemo?

Xseries is a brand by the Three mobile network which combines their most expensive phones with a batch of apps and a big data plan. It's been going for years and years and has nothing to do with Nokia.

Yes, it might be that they don't have anything common but you get most out from your N97 with unlimited data plan. I wasn't talking about some operator's brand, I was talking about the idea of your personal internet which Nokia uses to define N97. See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbdmVUShSUw . So I was meaning that Xseries stands for handheld line of personal mobile computers which are capable to give you a experience of internet that you would like to have? Like social widget homescreens, web-based applications etc.?

Yeah, I think the X-Series is for the XpressMusics while the C-Series is for the Classics. Well, I might be wrong..
