Verizon's HTC XV6975 turns out to be the Whitestone: 5 megapixels, no keyboard
Remember way back in March when HTC's 2009 lineup first started to come apart at the seams? You might recall that there was a "Whitestone" in there, rumored to be packing a wide VGA display, 5 megapixel camera, and global GSM / CDMA support for Verizon sometime around September. That leak looks to be proving frighteningly accurate now that Dutch site Tweakers.net has seen (and we've been able to verify) a user agent profile that describes the XV6975 in just enough detail so that we can fit the puzzle pieces together: 800 x 480 display and no keyboard, chiefly, and when you add to that the fact that we know it's got HSDPA on board from its GCF certification, you can pretty much see where this is going. Hard to say whether it'll launch with Windows Mobile 6.1 or 6.5 -- obviously we're pulling for 6.5, but if the rumored September launch is even close to accurate, that'll put it right on the cusp; fortunately, we'd fully expect it to be upgradeable either way. Separately, we're hearing that Verizon's Touch Pro2 is actually the XV6875, but the real question is this: at this point, which one do you want?

XV6975: Touch Diamond2
XV6875: Touch Pro2
With Verizon? How about NEITHER!
I am currently fighting Verizon for service I never had so I am a bit biased against them. The fact that they don't have a premiere device and have not had one for quite a long time is embarrassing. Worse is that the rumor is Apple went to them first and they dropped the ball and At&T took it and ran with it. Lets see what LTE brings but right now they get the big.. meh who cares
Any of these running Android?
So is this the Whitestone, or the Touch Diamond? Or are those the same phones?
nope, separate phones. the Touch Diamond2 was the HTC Topaz
I just want the TP 2 - before next year.
I know, I'm asking for a lot for Verizon.

theres your Whitestone with stand a la various Nseries devices. btw, see whats right next to the extUSB port right there? yeah, looks like a 3.5mm Headphone jack to me
Where's the Thoth?! T___T
I nearly got desperate and got a used X7510.
C'mon HTC, release something already.. cause this September release date is really starting to look illusive...
So how do we know whether or not this is the Touch Diamond or the Whitestone?
The Whitestone and the Touch Diamond have the same specs, with the only real difference being the Whitestone's 3.6" screen, to the TD2s 3.2" screen. The Whitestone is the CDMA version of the TD2. The GSM version of the TD2 is the Topaz.
Well, either way, the XV6975 and the XV6875 have both been certified by GCF. The XV6875 was certified back on 4/30/09. So, did no one at tweakers.net or Engadget think to verify the user agent profile for the XV6875?
I've posted something like this before, but here it goes again. The HTC Ozone was certified by GCF 109 days prior to launch. Based on the same timeframe...
Whitestone (XV6975) = November 3rd?
Touch Pro2 (XV6875) = August 17th?
Here's to wishful thinking that I'll have my Touch Pro2 with Verizon in a month! Again, just wishful thinking, since I'm still thinking November based on the releases of the XV6800 and Touch Pro1.
This is the diamond2 there is no way verizon and htc are gonna release almost identical devices at almost the same time.. Windows check, 5 megapixels check, large touch screen check.. How could you differentiate between the two.. I think whitestone = diamond2 = 6975... The Touch Pro has 4 htc names itself.. Touch Pro, Herman, Raphael, 6850...
Clearly if you look at the pictures they are two different devices. The Touch Diamond 2 is known as the Topaz in the slides and is more rectangular following up on the previous Touch Diamond while the Whitestone is more rounded and has a kickstand.
