HP iPAQ K3 Obsidian lives it up in the wild, sneaks in a stylus for the nostalgic types
There's always been a little chunk of softness in our cold, stone hearts for candybar QWERTY handsets. Stylus interaction? Not so much. That's why it's a little disappointing to see HP's upcoming iPAQ K3 Obsidian handset for AT&T show up with a stylus on board, despite the initial leaked documents we saw that clearly stated otherwise. Still, it's nice to see how Windows Mobile 6.5 can operate under such conditions, and the 2.43-inch screen is OLED, even if it's restricted to a mere QVGA resolution. It appears that a scroll wheel does the duty of shuffling through that honeycomb menu. As far as we know, we're still looking at a November release.

How quaint.
Stylus yes, quite obvious since that phone has SMALL SCREEN! and WinMo has something to do with this also...
You don't have to use the stylus, but it's really good for Excel, notes, and handwriting recognition.
Looks like it needs a reg tweak to get more columns
Why hate on the stylus as if the world has moved on from such wanton trash? One of my biggest nags about giving up my Treo 680 for the Pre or iPhone is the fact that I can scribble quick notes, numbers, or drawings on DiddleBug with unmatched flexibility and probably done before even getting to the app on the gesture devices. Don't get me wrong, I'm moving into the new century soon, but the stylus as noted in the post above cannot totally be replaced by fingers, keys and / or directionals. I would love to have one on the Pre, that is if the capacitives could recognize it.
There needs to be more phones like these
Flips are becoming a real pain in the ass...
While this screen is probably too small...why can't we can have a high end candybar phone?
