Early Android 2.0 "Donut" build available, up and running on G1

Perhaps more excitingly, the community is hard at work on a couple major fronts here: first off, the Donut build is actively being ported to current handsets, and an Android Dev Phone 1 / T-Mobile G1 version is already available (though very, very crashy and incomplete right now). Secondly, work is being conducted to extract major elements of Donut (some of the new widgets, for example) and roll them into cooked 1.5 builds, making the best stuff available in a more solid, accessible form without having to wait for 2.0 to become stable. If you're an adventurous -- nay, borderline mental -- G1 owner, though, you can start your journey to Donut right now.

you probably should give credit to Cyanogen in your post somewhere
sweet makes me feel even better about my HTC Magic purchase over the iphone 3G. I will have donuts to celebrate and patiently wait for the update. Doesn't it also unlock the potential for multitouch??? Why didn't engadget mention that?
they do mention multi-touch, but as cyanogen has mentioned, there is no support in the new android code for multi-touch, just the kernal. so it may be a bit longer till we see it. but with all the guys over at xda, we'll see it soon enough.
Did you guys miss the Donut != 2.0 memo?

The memo that they cant follow?

Donut will not be v2.0 and will not support multi-touch Per Romain Guy of the Google Dev Team.

UMA???
Seriously, does anyone know if UMA is going to be enabled on Android anytime soon? It would seem that being T-Mobile's flagship product, it would be able to use all of their flagship services. My coverage is bad in my highrise and I'd really like to be able to talk on the phone without going out on the balcony.
It's really the only thing chaining me to this Blackberry right now.
I could be wrong, but it's my understanding that UMA is hardware based, so even if Google rolls UMA support into a future Android build, it will only work on phones with compatible hardware, meaning the G1 will never get UMA support. Someone correct me if I'm wrong here...
Woot CDMA support, come on Verizon be ahead of the curve for once.
that would be awesome. i really want to leave Verizon for the Pre but an HTC Magic may make me reconsider. i'm waiting out my contract and saving up money now so i can watch all the cards unfold.
Palm pre is suppose to come to Verizon in January 2010 but I'm not hold my breath. I still waiting for Verizon to roll out Omnia II and HTC touch pro 2.
