Let's go through the steps together, shall we? A "senior member" forum poster on the
xda-developers forums has posted the above pic as proof that the HTC Hero is coming to the US on October 11th -- a claim he's been making as far back as April, but this is the first time he's brought a picture with him. The poster says he works for a wireless developer firm, and while this picture can easily be faked, we don't think it's necessarily that much of a stretch. Let's look at some of the other phones listed. There's "Samsung Q (Android)," which could provide a missing link between the
InstinctQ and the company's
mysterious Android phone that was supposed to be out on Sprint and T-Mobile by now.
BlackBerry Aries is the CDMA version the Curve 8520, and traditionally RIM's CDMA devices wind up on both Sprint and Verizon. The LG LX610 / Lotus 2 is a new one to us, but Lotus seems to have been well-received for Sprint. So to pull all that data together, if this list is the real deal, we'd say it came from Now Network company. This
is the sort of phone Dan Hesse would be
glad to have waited for, isn't it?

Sprint, gross.
Ya cuz ATT is so much better
You're probably an ATT subscriber and most likely an iPhone user.
From a lemming, we get a imbecilic statement and baseless claim.
Funny how PC World just listed the Top 10 iPhone Annoyances:
10. Default Apps Can't Be Hidden
9. You Can't Run Pandora or Other Apps in the Background
8. The App Store Is a Pain to Browse
7. Battery Drains Too Fast
6. You Can't Store Files or Attach Them to E-Mail
5. IMAP Gmail Is Lame
4. You Can't Create Contact List Groups
3. E-Mail Management Is Weak
2. Remote Wipe Costs $99 Per Year
1. AT&T Is the Carrier
The HTC Touch from 2 YEARS AGO is able to do EVERYTHING listed above (sans the Apple App Store and Remote Wipe) including several of the "new" features added to the iPhone 3G (video camera, voice control, cut and paste, digital compass).
Consider that Sprint's faster network is able to provide unlimited talk, text, data, web, true Voice Guided GPS navigation, Sprint TV, NFL Mobile Live, etc for at least $60/month ($720/year) less than the ATT/iPhone.
The new iPhone 3G may indeed feature a faster processor, but you're still on the ATT network....better pray for a WiFi connection!
Also, grab a tissue because you're going to cry for your iPhone when you see what the HTC Hero can do...open your eyes and visit:

Lastly, recall that just a few months ago, Sprint was recognized, and awarded, by JD Power & Associates for having the "Highest Call Quality Performance Among Wireless Cell Phone Users in the West Region.
The fact is, saavy customers are taking notice of Sprint`s network performance and overall call quality.
Sprint customers enjoy the best value in the industry with a dynamic suite of "Everything" plans that allow customers to use their phones the way they want without worrying about their wireless bills.
While the media lauds the "new" 3G service from ATT and the iPhone, Sprint will roll-out their 4G network beginning August 2, 2009.
4G >>> 3G
Man, I'm jealous. I wish Verizon would pick this up...
Dont worry my friend....Verizon will have that Motorola Android or watever the hell its called...
Yeah, Verizon will have it once they figure out how to lock out the features everyone wants.
UGHHHHHHHHH the hero is full of FAIL
HTC I thought Sprint was getting the jasper

ehhh.... on screen keyboards are epic fail
hopefully samsung q will have a keyboard, if not then I guess I will keep the palm pre
The Morrison aka MOTO Q 'A' is their first Android model, been rushed through. Why does everyone bag on Sprint? Do people know that Sprint won JD Power awards for call quality in the Western US? Wheres AT&T? Last. Sprint has won every single independent audit for the FASTEST & MOST RELIABLE 3.5G network, AT&T actually is second, Verizon, last place. (due to their old infastructure and band restrictions, more than anything, not to knock big Red fanbois) T-Mobile actually has better speeds than ALL of the other carriers!
Nice good news and great phones that are coming for sprint. Screw all this sprint haters you guys can continue to get raped by att or vzw.
I think this isn't true. Too soon
Just wish sprint had service in my neighborhood... it's ATT or Verizon here.
Isn't hero a GSM phone and Sprint CDMA?
Hero performance seemed sub par but I hope software can make it better cause it looks very nice.
If you had sprint... it would work in your neighborhood, they use verizon's network when roaming!
I did have sprint when I moved here in late 2005. It was so bad (only worked in certain parts of the upstairs) that I switched to ATT (Cingular at the time) to be on the same plan as my wife.
Do you have to pay for roaming on Verizon's network with a Sprint phone? And does it work for 3g (I know Verizon 3g is fast in my neighborhood, had a Verizon Air card for a while).
Too bad you can't get a cell phone trial offer, money back within 30 days, guaranteed satisfaction. Have to look at their maps and make a 2 year decision based on them.
Ive never paid for roaming while ive had Sprint. In the DC/Baltimore Area Coverage is Excellent, however the D.C Subway system only allows calls from Verizon Phones because of an Agreement with the transit system. All Sprint Users have to do is Turn Roaming on on their phones and it uses the Verizon Network to Make calls. At&t & Tmo will say no signal as long as ur underground.
Sprint does offer a 30 Day return policy. Sometimes its not the Service but sometimes its the actual phone itself.
Thanks, sounds promising. I am still wondering if when you switch a sprint phone to roaming if it will utilize 3g speeds or not.
YES!!!!!!!!!!!! 10-11 I hope this is true, that would be awesome!
@Ted
This might be the first time I've seen anyone pimpin' Sprint. They might be pretty good in the West but unfortunately for Sprint, not everyone lives out there. Sprint sucks everywhere else, just look at that same JD Power report. Sprint ranks near the bottom and every other region in the country.
Actually, that's not true. They won the call quality award in the South the quarter before. Their call quality is on par with everyone while study after study (Gizmodo and PC World) has consistently shown superior 3G network performance, which, if I were buying a smart phone or anything mobile that browses, I'd want.
Oh, and their Everything Plans are $20 to $40 dollar a month cheaper than ATT and VZ. Best part, sign up for an Everything Plan and you're AUTOMATICALLY enrolled in their Sprint Premiere program: Device upgrades every _12_ months.
But keep hatin' and paying more for less. Me, I use the savings for more beer and cooler phones...
Do you think the Samsung Q is the first phone that will utilize the new 4G network?
Samsung was working on a phone for the sprint network with wimax and tegra.
I don't know if that was it!
Its about damn time.....we dont all want a Pre! Bring em on Sprint!
@ Robertrulez From what I've read about the Samsung Q or "InstinctQ" as the Wifi cert was applied for, yes its supposed to have a slide out keyboard.
@ M. Cristo Yes from what I've read the Q is supposed to be the first 4g network phone sprint has, runnin wimax, cdma and wifi.
Ya I'm really looking forward to seeing the Q in action. Unfortunately I have a G1 as my work phone so I'm not going to get another Android phone as my personal one. I couldn't stand all that androiding. What I'm very disappointed to not see on this list is the Samsung M850 Dash (Instinct 2 or Instinct Deuce). Sadly I've been waiting for the M850 since I had such reception problems with the M810(Instinct S30). I dont know how Sprint / Samsung got me hooked on the Brew OS. But I really loved the S30, returning it was like breaking up with a girlfriend I really loved. I've professed my affection for touchscreen dumbphones in other comments elsewhere. I like barebone but still nice looking OS' that dont bog down the phone aspect. Seems like I've been waiting too long for a phone that was supposed to come out Q2 09, and it looks like it might not be out till Q4 09 if ever....SUCK.....
AWE-FUCKING-SOME!!!!
My Sprint contract expires around October/September and I will be first in line for one of these bad boys. I think Android will be the future, along with webOS, but I can't afford $99 everything plan right now as a student.
Im hoping Mr Hesse gets a selection of touchscreens, maybe something basic without buisness for the average user?.I been with sprint 10 yrs, no problems that couldnt be handled. I checked on changing Companys, one thing i found is VRZ and ATT nickle and dime u to death. I have free nav, texting, NFL, TV, web and texting and not even close to what id pay with the others. I valuse my 50 or 60 a month savings. As for the sprint slammers tell me u havent had some dropped calls, customer service issues. Ive had friends switch and now they have regretted it. Sprint has treated me wel and a good price. I for one will wait on the hero or other touch screen sprint puts out. My input..John
I am really looking forward to this phone and to switching to Sprint!!! I just wish that I could get out of my Verizon contract like yesterday!!!! I have to unfortunately wait until Feb of 2010 to do so :( That sucks. Oh well, I'm looking forward to a kick ass phone with a kick ass "Simply Everything" plan and saving a whole bunch of $$$$! Go Sprint!!!
