Samsung's u960 Rogue for Verizon has best name ever; looks alright, too
The word "Rogue" conjures images of awesome X-Men characters, small Nissan SUVs, and badasses who don't take crap from nobody -- but QWERTY sliders on Verizon? We'll admit, we didn't see that one coming. The would-be Glyde replacement is apparently lined up for a release date around the 15th of August, and we're seeing it now for the first time in pristine press shots following some in-the-wild action early in the month. We can tell already that it's going to be a better-looking phone than its predecessor, and the word on the street is that it works as good as it looks; if anything, it's a shame they didn't just go ahead and slap WinMo on here and call it an Omnia Pro. Can't win 'em all, we suppose.

Is this phone BREW? Does anyone know?
It looks like that's just TouchWiz, although I'm surprised that's not bastardized with Verizon's customizations and color scheme...
"it's a shame they didn't just go ahead and slap WinMo on here" Really?
It's a shame they didn't put android on here, so that Verizon actually had a phone that people would want.
I'd rather use the UI on there now than WinMo.
Very nice to see a presentation of a touchwiz phone that isnt dismissed as a touchscreen dumbphone that shouldnt be sold cus there are iphones available. Good job Chris.
So does anyone know what OS is under Touchwiz normally? Cus I know they put a touchwiz interface to Winmo and Symbian. But on a mid grade phone like this what is the underlying OS under all that touchwizardry?
Java OS
i work for vzw.. the new rebates were posted today, and the Rogue was not on the list. So i doubt that they would release it until 9/8/09 (when the rebate expires)
the article says around august 15th is when it's scheduled to be released...
I smell an Impression in black with some CDMA thrown in!
how much will it cost?
im either gettin this or the lg envy . any suggestion. my contract is up on the 15 of this month.
Had a chance to play with the phone yesterday. First off they are not selling this as the replacement to the gylde. They want to get the gylde out of the consumers heads all together. Everything about this phone so far is great. the user interface is so friendly and the touch screen is perfect. i had my doubts at first. the games for instance you can shake the phone to roll the dice(like the iphone). the phone is 2 times slimmer than the gylde. perfect size to fit in your hand. the keyboard is bigger than the gylde to give more space to type without hitting other keys. the browser is still verizon since it is not considered a data phone. but the browser has been greatly improved. the screen color is perfect. even in the sun i can make out everything on the display. the camera is a 3.0. the phone is to be released in sept. for the back to school specials along with the omnia II. haven't had a chance to play with that. but i will in a week.
i thought the samsung rogue was due to released on august 15.
aug 15 was a rough date. phone releases always change because of software or the main reason is the phone company is trying to find the best marketing time and like for the omina II they have to get rid of the excess merchandise. That's when you know for sure that a replacement is on it's way or the phone is being phased out. they didn't finalize the price yet. but it will start out on sale.
The Samsung Rogue SCH-U960 Cell Phone is the latest phone available in the market. I am impressed by the name. It has a decent look. Battery life is good but not great. I like the qwerty keyboard which makes typing very easy. Messaging features are really very nice. It has 3.0 megapixel camera, photo quality is good. People will not be satisfied with the video recorder. For more in detail refer http://www.techsoft.org/review-of-the-samsung-rogue-sch-u960-cell-phone.html
