Windows Mobile 6.5, HTC Touch Diamond2, and Flash collide on video
Remember that pretty Windows Mobile 6.5-ish skin for AT&T's Warhawk (a.k.a. HTC Touch Diamond2) we saw last week? Looks like it (or another very similar skin) is ready to make another appearance. The Inquirer managed to get a walkthrough of what's being called the final build of WinMo 6.5, and while there isn't a lot of new functionality shown -- large portions of the video are devoted to My Phone syncing and QR codes -- we do get to seem a few Zune inspired ideas and a brief glimpse of how it handles flash. It's still on track for release by Christmas, and if you want your glimpse now, check out the video after the break.

"The interface will be zune-like"
Oh....because that worked so well for you, didn't it Microsoft?
*please don't fuck up WinMo7 please don't fuck up WinMo7*
I don't know what you are talking about. The only problem Microsoft has had with the Zune is the ipod market saturation. I have never met a unhappy zune owner (I am one of them). And the interface is incredibly slick and (IMO) easier to follow than a iPod. Even on a small 8GB zune screen.
The Zune interface is widely praised....
I like the zune as well.. though I have a 30G Zune and a 16G Nano and like them both for different reasons.
and wm6.5s zune like homescreen is nice i think its safe to say if you dont have touch flo 3d or sense ui than wm6.5 has a better homescreen than your phone.. please name one phone anywhere that has a homescreen thats more slick simple and useful..
Why isn't anyone commenting on how poorly it ran on that device. Laggy, slow, choppy.......
I think it's just a given at this point. Windows Mobile always runs like this, so people don't care to say it anymore.
It's been noticed in the comments on regular engadget. It's mostly due to the crap device - HTC's still using the same 2 year old Qualcomm processor they used in the original Diamond, only this time on a higher resolution screen - 480x800 which is 2.5 times more pixels than the iPhone or most Android phones which run at HVGA or 320x480. The other explanation is that the web page is running Flash, which should also choke things up.
Other phones like the Toshiba TG01 with it's 1ghz snapdragon processor are actually using current processors and run much faster (on 6.5 at least, the shell they put on the 6.1 version seems craptastically unoptimized based on the videos I've seen). You should be able to find a video of the TG01 running 6.5. Super fast.
I realize that but............will it be/get better?
Runs just fine on my Blackstone.... doesn't hickup very often, but admit it does at times. however 99% of the time it's smooth as silk.
