iPhone and Wiimote brought together by Bluetooth

It's been a long time going, but it looks like the invisible divide between the iPhone and the Wii remote has finally been bridged through the magic of Bluetooth. That was apparently made possible thanks to the portable Bluetooth stack from the BTStack project, which got paired with some custom OpenGL-ES code to allow the Wiimote to control a virtual representation of itself on the iPhone. Practical? Of course not. But it's a Wiimote controlling an iPhone. Video after the break.

Cool....1st.
Kinda gay..2nd
How about a wireless video game controller instead? I might have actually kept my Touch since I would have actually been able to play games on the emulators. Virtual game keypads suck balls.
This is coming is September though...

Almost forgot...only d-balls give their comment order number at the end of their worthless comments...

Wow. I remember that, someone actually made some games that you could install on Symbian phones that used the wiimote.
This, however... isn't even a game. Its a proof of concept, and although the 3D aspect of it is kind of cool, at least the N95 version had playable actual games (and probably more since then).
The point that bothers me here, though, is that it was already done 2 years ago on other platforms as Al pointed out. Yet, somehow, because its now on an APPLE phone, it qualifies as news again.
I'm willing to bet that if someone put this on a Windows Mobile phone (and I wouldn't be surprised if someone already had), Engadget wouldn't be commenting on it.
I somehow feel like we're just feeding fanboyism with this type of journalism- the iPhone is a polished gadget sure enough, but it shouldn't get credit for all the "innovation" it does...
I'm still waiting to use my iPhone as a remote control for my PS3!!!
